Two and a Half Men: Ashton Kutcher To Replace Charlie Sheen

It would appear after all of the searching and rumors swirling around for the replacement of that tool-bag Charlie Sheen are finally coming to an end. Deadline reports that Ashton Kutcher, who had a brief and decidedly crappy movie career, will now be returning to his small screen roots with Two and a Half Men.

I for one had just hoped that it would end the show with Sheen leaving, because I’m almost positive he was the only reason people watched it but I’m not a big fan anyways. Here’s a snippet from Deadline:

We’ve just received word that negotiations have concluded, marking That ’70s Show co-star Ashton Kutcher’s return to television after a brief movie career. He is replacing Charlie Sheen in Two And A Half Men. The deal made sense for series producer Warner Bros which already had an overall with Kutcher’s Katalyst production banner. In fact, an hour later, Ashton announced he was joining the show by tweeting to his 6.7 million Twitter followers: “What’s the square root of 625?”

Names like Woody Harrelson, Rob Lowe, John Stamos, and Jeremy Piven circulated in the blogosphere as possible replcements. But until this week, with Deadline’s scoop that the show was in final negotiations with Hugh Grant, there had been nothing concrete going on with any specific actor. Co-creator and executive producer Chuck Lorre only wanted to continue the show “if he can find the right actor and get excited about that,” sources told Deadline. What mattered most to Lorre was that Sheen’s replacement be “somebody Chuck can work with” after butting heads with Charlie for years in a situation that escalated into a very public and nasty feud this spring.

I would like to think that this will end any speculation about Charlie Sheen possibly returning or even being relevant anymore, but lord knows we will probably have to hear even more from him about how he feels about their choice of actor to replace him. Maybe we’ll get another round of the Violent Torpedo of Truth Tour that is rampaging through America even as we speak.

The only interesting part to me about this will be how the show tries to work Kutcher in. Will Sheen’s character have just left for parts unknown? Did he die? Did he get plastic surgery to look just like Ashton Kutcher? Either way I’m sure it will be as half assed as the writing on that show. I’m not sure if Ashton Kutcher knows that he just landed the easiest job in show biz with this one. He doesn’t even have to try and be funny; the laugh track will do all the work while us mindless drones at home just roll with the punches and laugh on cue.

So what does everyone think? Yay, nay, or could give two piles of doo-doo? Let us know in the comments below and be sure to tell us how you think the show should write Kutcher in! Be ridiculous please!

  1. Charlie Sheen = old douchey toolbag. Ashton Kutcher = slightly younger douchey toolbag. 2.5 Men = a show for the simple-witted masses starring a douchey toolbag. Seems like a perfect fit to me. Do we get to see Demi’s boobs?
