Hero Express – ‘The Avengers’ Teaser Trailer, Kick-Ass 2, and Another Actor Wants ‘Luke Cage’

Welcome to Hero Express, your one-stop shop through the news filled world of superhero’s in Film, TV, Video Games and whatever else floats your boat.

This is the Hero Express for July 18, 2011:

Clark Gregg Talks The Avengers, and an Agent Coulson Spin-off? –(Collider)

Clark Gregg is basically the comedic connective tissue behind Marvel’s Cinematic Universe as Agent Coulson, having appeared as the main S.H.I.E.L.D. presence in most of the Marvel movies. Here he talks a little about shooting The Avengers, a bit about some of the other projects Gregg has been working, plus his thoughts on an Agent Coulson movie.

“So, do I get my own movie now?”

Latest Poster For Captain America: The First Avenger – (GeekTyrant)

The latest and most likely last poster for Captain America: The First Avenger was released, and while it looks a little better than the last one, it’s still not that great. You can decide for yourself.

Kind of epic, I suppose.

Attack the Block Director discusses Ant-Man (iamROGUE)

Ant-Man has long been rumored in development by Edgar Wright, but we haven’t heard about too much movement lately. Joe Cornish, director of the upcoming Attack the Block,  talks a little about the script he is writing with Wright.

“Yeah, Ant-Man is still going,” confirmed Cornish. “Edgar and I were writing on it only the day before yesterday,” he admitted. I followed up by asking if they were doing a lot of rewriting on the script.

“Yeah, we’re just drafting and drafting,” he said. Finally, with Wright’s busy schedule, I wanted to find out if Cornish thought that Edgar would still end up directing the movie.

“Yes,” Cornish answered. “I’m just a humble writer on that one,” he said in closing.

Rampage Jackson In Talks for Luke Cage – (Fandango)

Throwing his hat into the ring along with Tyrese Gibson and Isaiah Mustafa is UFC fighter turned actor Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson. You might remember him from The A-Team, filling the role made famous by Mr. T. I personally didn’t care for the movie but Rampage wasn’t the worst part of it.

Out of all the actors mentioned he definitely has the build and the attitude for the role, I just don’t know if he has the acting talent. But really, do Gibson and Mustafa? Here’s what Baracus Rampage had to say about it.

“I don’t think there’s anyone out there who would be a more believable Luke Cage than me.”

Footage from The Dark Knight Rises Set(GeekTyrant)

Here’s a quick look at a scene featuring Christian Bale and Anne Hathaway. Not much is revealed, but it’s a piece of footage, so I’m gonna show it to you.

First Look at TDKR Batmobile – (CinemaBlend)

I’m actually a little disappointed, as I was hoping we would to get to see an all new and improved Batmobile. But it looks like we get the Tumbler version, which is still cool, I guess.

Yep, still cool

New Cowboys & Aliens Promo Image – (ComicBookMovie)

A new image has arrived for Jon Favreau‘s upcoming alien western Cowboys & Aliens starring Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford, among a great list of others. I have to say, this is probably one of the coolest shots I’ve seen yet. As long as we’re not counting any picture of Olivia Wilde, that is.

McLovin Talks Kick-Ass 2 (Collider)

I suppose we can stop calling him McLovin and start calling him Christopher Mintz-Plasse, as he is consistently getting good roles and making his name in the business. He is doing press for the upcoming The To-Do List and spoke a little about Kick-Ass 2.

Question:  Have you been reading the sequel as Mark’s been publishing it?

Christopher Mintz-Plasse:  Yeah. I haven’t seen the new one.

Do you look at it and go, “Oh, god, please…”

Mintz-Plasse:  Please make this movie!

Cause what a role they’ve given me.

Mintz-Plasse:  Yeah! I talked to Matthew and he’s like, “I don’t know if I would ever direct it, but I would definitely be on board to produce it. And I’ve thought, Eli Roth would be such a cool director for this. Or someone who hasn’t done a comic book movie but gets horror ‘cause it’s very violent. Very bloody. But Chloe’s working up a storm, man. She’s non-stop. So, who knows if we’ll ever do it? I know I would love to, and I think Aaron would love to. I’m sure Chloe would, but we’re all just kind of busy right now.

So that was a very non-committal answer, and doesn’t give us any information about when or if this movie will happen.

True Blood‘s Ryan Kwanten as Griff the Invisible – (GeekTyrant)

While this movie is an original story and not based off any comic I felt it was still important to mention it here. Take a look at Ryan Kwanten (True Blood’s Jason Stackhouse) as the hero in Griff the Invisible:

Here’s the trailer, which has the unfortunate tagline of “Love is the Greatest Superpower of All”:

And that’s it for this edition of Hero Express. You can check out past editions here and be sure to comment on any of the stories we talked about in the comments section below!
