So with Comic-Con underway in San Diego, one of the great things to come out is the 5 minute preview of the resurrected Beavis and Butt-Head, and after watching it – I couldn’t be more excited for the return.
When I first heard the news of MTV bringing back the animated duo after 14 years, I have to admit I was a bit skeptical given their current state of programming (with the exception of Teen Mom and 16 and Pregnant… That shit is pure gold!). I was kind of afraid that we might get the same quality of resurrected show Fox and Seth McFarland gave us when they brought back the crap-tastic Family Guy (Quick tangent: How the hell was Seth McFarland able to take over Fox’s Sunday night and populate with garbage shows? You can’t tell me people are actually watching American Dad and the Cleveland show, which are repackaged and water-downed versions of the stale Family Guy.. How can Fox justify pulling a great show like the Chicago Code give Seth McFarland and Gordon Ramsay. I get it, you’re an angry british chef that likes to belittle aspiring American cooks and restaurant owners. Enough already.) Anyways, its apparent that Mike Judge is staying true to the sophomoric, penis and fart jokes/commentary that made the show so popular back in the mid 90’s.
The only obvious upgrades to the show will be the animation, and the wonderful ammunition the current state of MTV programming provides the duo for commentary segments of the show, but other than that its like the show never left our tv sets. According to Judge, some of the shows that are going to be facing the Beavis and Butt-Head firing squad are: the Twilight movies, 16 and Pregnant, Jersey Shore and apparently UFC fights as well. While I will admit I may be a little too excited over just a 5 minute preview, but take a look for yourself…
Now, ask yourself this: is there anything else on, or coming out on basic cable that’s worth watching……. Besides The Maury Show??
