Poster Released For The Amazing Spider-Man – (SuperHeroHype)
We’ve seen a teaser poster before featuring the blue and red spidey symbol, but now we have the official teaser poster from The Amazing Spider-Man which shows Garfield scaling a wall and casting a rather iconic shadow.
The tagline says ‘The Untold Story” which isn’t totally inaccurate. The Raimi Spidey got his powers and then boom, he’s a hero with a costume. The whole learning stage was montage-d, which left a lot of details out.

The Marc Webb directed reboot is settling back in LA for some additional shots, and we got a glimpse of Andrew Garfield doing some plainclothes acrobatics which resulted in this cool shot, which is something I can totally do I just choose not too.
Patty Jenkins Leaves Thor 2 – (ComicBookMovie)
With Kenneth Branagh not taking the helm for the sequel, the role had fallen to Patty Jenkins, who hasn’t directed a movie since 2003. However, due to creative differences, it looks like she’s out and the director’s chair is open once again. Jenkins had a little to say about her departure:
“I have had a great time working at Marvel. We parted on very good terms, and I look forward to working with them again. I have a long love of superhero films and I’d been saying over and over again to my agents at CAA that I’d like to do one. The Marvel guys are so brave in terms of who they choose overall, and I don’t think they had any pause about me being a woman.”
Marvel Wants Game of Thrones Directors? – (CinemaBlend)
Wasting no time, it looks like Marvel is considering a couple directors from HBO’s Game of Thrones. This wouldn’t be a terrible fit, as the setting and characters of Game of Thrones might not be so far off of the heart of a warring Asgard.
According to THR, Alan Taylor and Daniel Minahan are now the top two filmmakers being looked at to helm superhero sequel Thor 2. Much like Jenkins and her rumored predecessor, Game of Thrones director Brian Kirk, both Taylor and Minahan have done most of their work on television. Taylor, who has been directing TV shows since the mid-1990s, has episodes of Oz, Mad Men, Bored To Death, The Sopranos and Game of Thrones on his resume, while Minahan’s prior work includes True Blood, Six Feet Under, Grey’s Anatomy, and, again, Game of Thrones.
The studio is also currently looking for a writer to work on the next version of the script. While Don Payne wrote the first draft, Marvel is currently considering Sheldon Turner, John Collee (Happy Feet), Robert Rodat (Saving Private Ryan) and Roger Avery (Pulp Fiction). Thor 2 is currently scheduled to be released on November 15, 2013.
X-Men, Daredevil, and FF Are Fox’s Priorities – (Splashpage)
Obviously there are big things coming up from Marvel on the big screen, but Fox is still focusing on the Marvel character’s they own the rights too. We spoke about McAvoy‘s and Fassbender‘s thoughts on an X-Men: First Class sequel on a previous Hero Express, but what else is Fox working on?
“The reason, in addition to those two guys (McAvoy and Fassbender) and Matthew Vaughn, that it was as good as it was that the script was really good,” Rothman said. “The key to making a great continuing franchise is to have a great script, so we’re working hard on it.”
Rothman also commented on a couple other Marvel properties Fox will bring back to the screen, “Daredevil” and “Fantastic Four.” In the case of “Daredevil,” director David Slade announced this week that the script for the reboot was finally finished. Rothman confirmed before that the project is still with Slade and moving forward.
“‘Daredevil’ is still with David Slade,” Rothman said. “It’s in development now. We’re working on it and ‘Fantastic Four.'”
But the producer thinks that the superhero game has changed since the first iterations of those franchises.
“I think for all of us, the bar has been raised, so we’ve got to aim high now. Marvel’s done a terrific job with their films. Where our Marvel movies are concerned or other movies like that,” he said. “It’s like what we had with ‘Planet of the Apes’ this summer. I think it’s important for us to really aim high and deliver an A-level experience to the audience.”
Ghost Rider Rides Into Theaters – (SuperHeroHype)
On Feb. 17th Neveldine/Taylor‘s Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance hits theaters, but you get an early glimpse in theaters now of the giant standee used to promote the movie.

Drake Bell Dishes on Ultimate Spider-Man – (Splashpage)
We’ve been waiting for some news on the next animated version of Spidey to hit the tube, but its been few and far between. What we do know is it draws heavily from Bendis’ Ultimate Spider-Man, which was a re-imagining of the classic character for a new generation. Drake Bell, the voice of Peter Parker, confirms its roots and discusses a little about the character.
“It’s awesome. The animation is unbelievable. It’s 2-D but it’s the coolest 2-D animation you’ve ever seen,” he told MTV News. “It’s going to be really true [to the comics].”
“There’s tons of different [versions of Spider-Man]. He’s in high school,” he said. “He doesn’t have, the webs don’t come out of his arms. He’s a science nerd, so he figured out how to make sticky web substance and they’re called web shooters. So it’s more like the ‘Ultimate Spider-Man’ comic book than the Tobey Maguire [movie] or the new ‘Amazing Spider-Man’ or anything like that.”
It looks alright, but I was a huge fan of The Spectacular Spider-Man, and I still don’t see the reasoning behind cancelling that one for this one.
