Welcome to Webcomic Wednesday, in which we feature comics available for free on the information superhighway, just in time for the Geek Sabbath (a.k.a. New Comics Day).
Attention Internet: Emi Lenox draws the cutest cats ever.
Okay, now with that out of the way . . .
EmiTown is about the most adorable-est sketch diary you’ll ever see, buttressed by some incredibly robust cartooning chops and flavored with whimsy, a bit of romanticism, and, more often than not, poignancy. While we suspect anyone would be nourished after consuming the bountiful backlog, it’s by no means necessary to enjoy the new entries.

Lenox wears her auto-bio heart on her sleeve in a manner that’s endearing and emotive rather than annoying and off-putting (which the vast preponderance of auto-bio comix tend to be, in our opinion). And you can see the development of her artwork and sensibilities and storytelling craft as you peruse the history. It starts lovely, but progresses to wonderful.
Lenox teased in a blog entry back in September that EmiTown will come to an end soon (to be replaced by something else), but until then (and we’re confident that even after that), EmiTown, or wherever Lenox is hanging her helmet, is at least a weekly stop.
(And if you dig ’em, they’re even prettier and more cohesive in the print version, available from Image Comics, not to mention you can purchase her original artwork and other crafty stuff here)
