Marvel’s Phase 2 is swinging into action, with the impending release of Iron Man 3, which kicks off this year’s Summer Schedule, and now the release of the first trailer for the 2nd Thor movie – Thor: The Dark World. This will be the first Non-Iron Man sequel (cause we’re ignoring Ang Lee’s Hulk) and will be followed by Cap 2, Guardians of the Galaxy, and the 2nd Avengers movie.
Take a look at the trailer…
Overall the trailer is nothing special, lots of fighting and not many clues as to what is really happening. Pretty much everyone from the first movie (S.H.I.E.L.D. excluded) is back and things look explosiony. Also, Loki is in jail, it’s probably a good idea to let him out…

We also get a quick glimpse of our villain – Christopher Eccelston as Malekith the Accursed. Or at least the back of this head…
I’m a fan of Eccleston from his days on Heroes and Doctor Who (GI Joe not so much) and I think he’ll be a great addition to the already stellar cast, which include plenty of big names that don’t make the poster like Idris Elba (Luther, The Wire) and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Oz, Lost) just to name a couple.
Here’s hoping this is better than Iron Man 2 was…
The full Phase 2 schedule is as follows:
Iron Man 3 – May 3rd, 2013
Thor: The Dark World – November 8th, 2013
Captain America: The Winter Soldier – April 4th, 2014
Guardians of the Galaxy – August 1st, 2014
The Avengers 2 – May 1st, 2015
Phase 3 will follow with Ant-Man for sure, and there are rumors of Dr. Strange and a 3rd Hulk movie as well…
