Curse of Chucky Goes Back to its Roots with its New Chucky Doll Design

Curse of Chucky is the latest in the popular and always entertaining horror series starring everyone’s favorite killer doll. Reprising his role as the plastic man wanting a real body is Brad Dourif who has teamed up with stars Fiona Dourif (True Blood), Danielle Bisutti (Get Smart) and Brennan Elliott (Double Jeopardy) to continue the tale of serial killer Charles Lee Ray who, when close to death performs arcane passages to live again, only to find he is stuck in a child’s doll.

Here is a recap of the films synopsis:

Nica (Fiona Dourif) is grieving over the gruesome suicide of her mother when her domineering older sister Barb (Danielle Bisutti) arrives with her young family in tow to help settle their mother’s affairs. As the sisters butt heads over Nica’s plans for the future, Barb’s young daughter comforts herself with a grinning, red-haired talking doll named Chucky (voiced again by Brad Dourif) that recently arrived mysteriously in the mail. But as a string of brutal murders begins to terrorize the household, Nica suspects the doll may hold the key to the bloodshed. What she doesn’t know is that Chucky has a personal score to settle. He’s determined to finish a job he started more than 20 years earlier, and this time he’s going to see it through to the bloody and shocking end.

As you can see from the plot it is pretty much business as usual here, with Chucky causing mayhem to some small child. Could Nicola be in any way related to Andy Barclay, the child from the first film who caused Chucky so much trouble in the past? At this stage it is all guess-work, but what we do know is that the Chucky franchise has always managed to entertain even when some of the movies have been a tad on the ropey side. What I want to know is who has a secret stash of these dolls lying about, because most companies would have stopped producing a doll that normally is the cause of the user’s death. The exciting news that has just hit the net (via Dread Central) is the new design of Chucky. A photo from Instagram, courtesy of Fiona Dourif herself shows the CD cover of the new film with Chucky sitting on a woman’s (probably Fiona) lap who is bound to a chair. Now this new look is actually more like the design of the original Chucky doll before its features turned more cartoony and animated. It is a lot creepier to look at, and my guess is that this new film will follow the original and have a much darker tone, maybe with a new investigation angle focusing on why Chucky wants revenge on this family.

A great doll design which helps build up excitement for this new installment even more. Keep checking Grizzly Bomb for more updates as they arrive.
