SDCC 2013: Vin Diesel Teases Big Marvel News, & A New Redband Trailer for ‘Riddick’

We seem to be talking a lot about Vin Diesel’s possible Marvel future, and he keeps teasing on his involvement in a mystery Marvel Studios project. Today was no different, as Diesel sat and answered some questions during the panel for Riddick:

Diesel answered a question from a fan about all those Marvel hints with a teasing, “There is some very big news coming at the end of this month.” He followed it up, obviously, with a huge smile.

This still leaves a ton of speculation on who, if anyone, he will be playing. Obviously we still have a day to wait until Marvel Studios hits the stage in Hall H and presumably blows all of our minds (much like they did last year), but with everything else going on and the ‘end of the month’ statement from Diesel, we might not be hearing anything about this tomorrow. What we do have is a kick-ass new Redband Riddick trailer that was premiered at the panel:

Actually looks pretty awesome, right? Feels like more of a sequel to Pitch Black than Chronicles of Riddick, which is a good thing. A very good thing. The synopsis for the film is below:

Vin Diesel in Riddick Poster[box_dark]The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he’s encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty. The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal. With time running out and a storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won’t leave the planet without Riddick’s head as their trophy.[/box_dark]
