We’ve seen a lot from the Jurassic World trailers; everything from plot to the Chris Pratt and his velociraptor horde – all with the exception of the Indominus Rex, the films prehistoric antagonist. Luckily for us that changed with today’s trailer, giving fans a taste of just how dangerous the new Dino can be.
The film takes place 22 years after the events from 1993’s Jurassic Park, seeing Dr. John Hammond’s dream fulfilled. Like most ambitious corporations, the park investors have pushed for a bigger wow factor in the park, resulting in the DNA splicing of a new, cunningly dangerous dinosaur, the Indominus Rex. Besides being bigger than the original big bad – the T-Rex – the Indominus seems to be sharper and more calculating than his predecessors. Physically, The Indominus looks like the love child of a T-Rex and a velociraptor with a more ferocious set of chompers. Aka, something you don’t want to get too close to.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, the Indominus has also found a way to communicate with the other creatures of the park, which doesn’t bode well. If anything, it’s clear that this dinosaur has some sociopathic tendencies, hence the valley of the brontosaurus carcasses that appears in the trailer. We’re not quite sure how much influence Indominus has over the rest of this prehistoric cousins, but if it’s enough to make flying pterosaurs scoop up terrified park guests, its safe to say it’s pretty bad.
So now we wonder, where does Chris Pratt and his raptor gang come in? It’ll take more than human aide to help defeat a dinosaur with the amount of cunning the Indominus rex has in his arsenal.
