Fans of Batman are in for a big 2016. Along with the release of the long-awaited Batman v. Superman, two DC animated features are set for release the same year. While the details of the buzz worthy animated version of Batman: The Killing Joke, remain in the shadows, DC Animation is giving fans a taste of the other animated feature set for next year, Batman: Bad Blood, which was announced at this year’s Comic Con International.
While Batman is still the title character of the upcoming Bad Blood, it looks like this one will be a family affair with Team Batman taking the spot light. Sean Maher (Firefly’s Simon Tam), voicing Dick Grayson/Nightwing, takes center stage as he is forced by the mysterious disappearance of Batman to don the cap and cowl himself. After years of trying to move out of Batman’s shadow and stand on his own, he’s none too happy about taking the role. His own bad blood with his role in the crime fighting team will likely add some heat to the performance, but the tension between the other members should make for a great story.
Another member of the Bat family joining reluctantly, if the comics are any indication, is Batwoman/Katherine Kane, who witnesses what she thinks is the death of Batman. Voiced by Yvonne Strahovski of Chuck fame, this will be a first screen appearance of the character. No word yet on whether or not the movie will stay true to the New 52 version of the Batwoman, but fans can hope to see her kicking some ass and holding her own.

As if this wasn’t enough to get fans excited, another Firefly alum, and current Gotham staple, Morena Baccarin is set to voice Talia al Ghul, who has had a long standing love/hate relationship with Batman. Is she here to help or hinder the search for Batman?
Other voice talents include Jason O’Mara (Justice League:War, Batman v. Robin) who returns to the roll of the missing Batman/Bruce Wayne, Gaius Charles (Friday Night Lights) as Luke Fox/Batwing, Stuart Allan (Son of Batman) returning to the roll of Batman’s son Damian Wayne/Robin, and Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters) as Wayne Enterprises CEO Lucius Fox.
