The full trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens made it’s worldwide debut during ESPN’s live coverage of Monday Night Football. This new trailer for the movie that will continue the Skywalker saga looks amazing. I mean, I can’t even…it’s just so good looking…why am I still talking, just watch the trailer:
The new trailer, along with the previous teasers, should be nothing but encouraging for fans. The movie continues to look impressive and like it may actually live up to the hype. To me, the best part about the new full trailer is that while we get a little more information about the story with some dialogue in the trailer, it still doesn’t seem to divulge to much. Honestly, it raises more questions than it answers. For instance, what in the galaxy is capable of causing all this destruction?
Or what happened to make Rey so upset?
Lastly, what exactly is Leia so concerned about here with Han?
From the looks of things, fans should be excited for what is looking to be a return to the kind of storytelling that made people fall in love with Star Wars in the first place.
In addition to some of those scenes there are also some other conspicuous bits of information about the trailer. For starters, in much of the voice over we here Rey talking to someone who is as of yet unidentified. The voice sounds female, but not like Leia. There’s a good chance the character we here is Maz Kanata, Lupita Nyong’o’s character, which we have yet to see in any of the trailers. Secondly, Luke is also absent from this trailer and we’ve yet to see an official image released of him. This and his absence from the official poster released on October 18 point to him either not being directly involved in the majority of the movie, or his role is being kept very close to the vest.
As always, the score by John Williams sounds beautiful and epic, and as we’ve seen in the teasers and again here, call backs to classic themes from the original trilogy. All signs are pointing to this truly being a film that lives up to the Star Wars legacy.
The movie is set to release this upcoming December 18 and tickets are now on sale! Be sure to get them before they sell out for the opening weekend!
