It’s the zombie apocalypse! Come on, we’re scouts! We’re trained for this!
Despite wide spreading Zombie-fatigue, this flick actually looks worthwhile. Writer/director Christopher Landon’s new horror comedy, which appears to be in the vein of Shaun of the Dead, will put the fabled preparadness of scouts to the test when they must face a zombie outbreak. Check out the (NSFW) trailer…
So Landon’s screenplay (written with Emi Mochizuki and Carrie Lee Wilson) made the 2010 Blacklist, which identifies some of the most liked, but unmade scripts each year. Now, five years later we finally get to see the story come to live.
The cast includes 89 year old comedy legend Cloris Leachman (Young Frankenstien) and Anchorman alum David Koechner as the scout leader. The stars of the film though may be a bit less recognizable. This is Joey Morgan’s first film, and Logan Miller’s most famous work is mostly in the voice acting category (Ultimate Spider-Man), but Tye Sheridan has appeared in some critical darlings, and more importantly is the new Cyclops in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse. Then there is Sarah Dumont, whose resume sees a lot of characters named “Cute Girl” or “Beautiful Woman” – she is playing thelovely cocktail waitress Denise.

The movie releases today, just in time for Halloween, and word is that’s it well worth the 93 watch for fans of the genre.
