For those of you out there demanding more Kurt Russell in your life, you just might get it, and in a big way! James Gunn has mentioned that Star Lord’s father would be playing a role in the sequel to last year’s supernova success Guardians of the Galaxy, and Kurt Russell is reportedly in talks for the part.
I’m not sure exactly how this is going to work out, because to my understanding, the first film implied that Star Lord’s father was a being “composed of pure light.” Regardless, I don’t care, because Russell is fantastic in this sort of film, and I firmly stand behind the casting choice if it goes through. We can only hope that if he lands the role, his character will actually survive the film!
Russell has just finished up the first leg on something of a comeback tour, with 2 major and mustachioed projects in Bone Tomahawk and Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight. Solidifying things with a prominent role in the Marvel cinematic universe couldn’t be a better decision for the now grizzled Hollywood veteran. Welcome back, Kurt; we’ve missed you!
While you’re here, might as check out some other stuff; For more Marvel news we have the Mockingbird comic, inspired by the lovely Adrianne Palicki. Or if sequels are your game, how about the new Predator flick? Or, if you somehow missed it – the trailer for AMC’s Preacher?
