Rogue One: A Star Wars Story – What’s Next For Star Wars

The Disney/Lucasfilms plan to keep Star Wars at the forefront of our minds for the foreseeable future is certainly working.

Even the animated series Disney’s Rebels and the slew of books filled with back story secrets aren’t enough to satisfy fans. The next film in the franchise, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, is just under a year away and already the rumors are flying at light speed.

Of course the biggest rumor surrounding the next installment of the galaxy’s most epic saga, the return of everyone’s favorite dark Lord, Vader. Making Star Wars claims to have received confirmation, likely from rebel spies, that several sets of Vader armor have been built for the movie, confirming Vader will make an appearance. While it appears at this time that Vader will physically be played by an actor who has not played him before (Phew), his voice should be all too familiar. MSW adds to their claim that James Earl Jones will once again voice the troubled sith lord. For those keeping count this means Vader will have been played by 6 different people, not including the animated series.

Rogue One will, like its recent predecessor, feature a very diverse cast made up of lesser known actors, continuing the series tradition of new faces. New names include Felicity Jones who appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, as well as Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, Jiang Wen.

Some of the more recognizable faces are Ben MendelsohnDonnie Yen, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen, and Firefly‘s Alan Tudyk. are set to star in the film, which takes place just before A New Hope. Our team of rebels are tasked with stealing the plans to the first Death Star, so audiences can at least be sure many Bothans will meet their untimely end.


A May 6 release date of the films first trailer was announced, as the trailer will appear before the coming Marvel film Captain America: Civil War. This makes perfect sense since Chancellor Disney owns both properties. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits theater December 16, 2016
