The new Tim Burton feature to debut this year is Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children based on the best-best selling novel of the same name by Ransom Riggs. The story revolves around a place where “peculiar” children can be themselves, or rather a place where they don’t have to hid from their peculiarities. The trailer does a pretty good job explaining so check it out here:
The film stars Eva Green as Miss Peregrine herself, Samuel L. Jackson as Barron, and Asa Butterfield (Ender’s Game) as our young protagonist, Jacob Portman. The trailer feels very Tim Burton, more so along the lines of Big Fish rather than Alice in Wonderland, which is a good thing. For those of you who have read the novel, this seems to have taken what lighthearted nature there was in it, and brought it to the big screen. As a trailer I think it’s super successful and I cannot wait to see the full feature.
My love for Eva Green runs deep and Asa Butterfield was a pretty good Ender, despite how bad the movie was. The cast is pretty well stacked and the adaptation seems right up Burton’s alley. The film will also feature Kim Dickens (Fear the Walking Dead), Allison Janney (The West Wing), Chris O’Dowd (Bridesmaids), Rupert Everett (Stardust), Terrence Stamp (Superman II), and Dame Judi Dench (Skyfall).
It kind of feels like a sure thing of being a great staple on the Burton resume and a favorite for fans of him and the book alike. What did you guys think of the trailer? Are you excited for the movie?
