The Motor City Comic Con, now in its 27th year, kicks off today at 12:30 pm in Novi, Michigan.
I will be heading there tomorrow morning, it will be my fourth time attending since 2008, and I can attest that the show has gotten significantly larger each year. Starting in 1989, they reported about 2,500 people through the turnstiles. When I went in ’08 it was over 15,000, and last year they reported 50,000. The show has become a real event, and if you’re in the area, it’s well worth checking out.
This year’s guest include Adam West, Burt Ward, Lea Thompson (Back to the Future), Robin Lord Taylor (Gotham’s Penguin), James Marsters (Spike from Buffy), Ivy Doomkitty, Katrina Law, and many more! You can check out the full list here for yourself.
For me, the thing I’m most excited about will be the opportunity to meet Lena Headey. Star of Terminator: Sarah Conner Chronicles, Dredd, 300, The Purge, and Game of Thrones!

The excitement has been building and Motor City Comic Con 2016 is announcing a new cast of comic and media guests for its 27th annual, three-day comic con and has opened ticket sales online. Michigan’s number one pop culture event will toast the 50th anniversary of Batman with stars from the original cast in their last year of appearances before they hang up their capes. The weekend event will feature stars from popular television series and films like Doctor Who, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Gotham, The X-Files, Monty Python, The Hobbit, and many more. “Holy smokes, Batman.” This year’s Motor City Comic Con will take place Friday, May 13 (12:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.), Saturday, May 14 (10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.) and Sunday, May 15 (10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.) at the Suburban Showplace, located at 46100 Grand River Avenue in Novi.
