Mark Felt: The Man Who Brought Down The White House – Liam Neeson Is Deep Throat

The first trailer for Mark Felt: The Man Who Brought Down The White House sets the stage back in 1974 with the most infamous acts of government misconduct (so far) in U.S. history.

Directed by Peter Landesman (Concussion, Parkland), the film stars Liam Neeson as the titular whistleblower who assisted journalists Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein break news of President Nixon’s attempt to conceal White House involvement in the scandal, which resulted in the arrest of five men apprehended after breaking into the Democratic National Committee headquarters.

The film chronicles Felt’s discovery of the Watergate scandal and subsequent decision to leak information to the Post as Richard Nixon’s White House administration began attempting to tamper with the FBI’s investigation but after seeing the trailer, one thing is very clear: this is a timely movie, almost bordering on satire. Announced back in 2006, Mark Felt: The Man Who Brought Down The White House didn’t start filming till May 2016, months before the election and even longer before Trump’s subsequent troubles with the FBI and James Comey.

The film is a timely tale, one that asks us to appreciate our heroes, even those that are hidden from sight.
