Body At Brighton Rock Trailer: A Survivalist Horror With Paranoid Tendencies…And A Bear!

Magnolia Pictures has debuted the first trailer for Body at Brighton Rock, a new indie horror survival thriller film from Roxanne Benjamin, her second feature film following Southbound. The film is an examination of one young girl, Wendy, who learns if she has what it takes to get through this harrowing experience.

The movie stars Karina Fontes as Wendy, a part-time summer employee at a mountainous state park, who takes on a rough trail assignment at the end of the season, trying to prove to her friends that she’s capable enough to do the job. When she takes a wrong turn and ends up deep in the backcountry, she stumbles upon what might be a potential crime scene. Stuck with no communication after losing her radio and with orders to guard the site, Wendy must fight the urge to run and do the harder job of staying put — spending the night deep in the wilderness, facing down her worst fears and proving to everyone — including herself — that she’s made of stronger stuff than they think she is.

The trailer does a good job establishing some well-honed dread and even though the film is certainly on the indie side, and comes across a little cheap, it does give us a great performance from Fontes. If you’re looking for some survivalist horror, including a bear, as well as a creepy man just lurking around, you’ll be able to check out Body at Brighton Rock in about a month. Casey Adams, Emily Althaus, Miranda Bailey, Martin Spanjers, John Getz, and what may or may not be a CGI bear all co-star in the film, which just had its world premiere in the Midnighters section at SXSW.

Benjamin is one of horror’s rising behind-the-camera stars. As a producer on the V/H/S anthology series, a director on Shudder’s upcoming Creepshow TV series, and the writer of a planned Night of the Comet remake, she’s poised to be a huge force within the genre.
