Deadwood: The Movie – The Official Trailer Is Here!

UPDATE: 4/25/19 – HBO has released the official trailer for the long-awaited Deadwood movie. The two-hour event will reunite the indelible characters of the show after more than a decade to celebrate South Dakota’s statehood. Check it out!

Former rivalries are reignited, alliances are tested and old wounds reopened as all are left to navigate the inevitable changes that modernity and time have wrought.

The original 45-second teaser promo offered only fleeting glimpses but very welcome returns for most of the local favorites. Most notably, we saw Timothy Olyphant and Ian McShane back at it as Bullock and Swearengen. “This town is a sanctuary,” Swearengen intones in the trailer as quick cuts of returning characters and acts of violence flash onscreen. “Every man worth a name knows the value of being unreachable.”

The promo also revealed that the two-hour return of the fan-favorite Western drama will premiere date on Friday, May 31, 2019, which is about two weeks after Game of Thrones ends for those who will be jonesing for something to fill the void.

McShane, Olyphant are all returning for film, alongside other original cast members including Molly Parker (Alma Ellsworth), Paula Malcomson (Trixie), John Hawkes (Sol Star), Anna Gunn (Martha Bullock), Dayton Callie (Charlie Utter), Brad Dourif (Doc Cochran), Robin Weigert (“Calamity” Jane Canary), William Sanderson (E.B. Farnum), Kim Dickens (Joanie Stubbs) and Gerald McRaney (George Hearst). The film will also feature new cast member Jade Pettyjohn.

Written by series creator David Milch, the film picks up 10 years after the events of Season 3, which wrapped back in 2006. The show was unceremoniously canceled in the midst of a dispute over how to end the production between Milch and HBO. A Deadwood movie was in-the-works almost from the get-go but the air from that tire popped fast and fans were left idling for years.

Check out Deadwood: The Movie just in time for the 15th anniversary of the show’s original premiere May 31 on HBO.
