Jay and Silent Bob Reboot

[SDCC 2019] Jay and Silent Bob Reboot: Kevin Smith Unveils First Red Band Trailer

Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes reprise their roles as Jay and Silent Bob – and this time they return to Hollywood, yet again, to stop a reboot of the Bluntman and Chronic movie from getting made.

The stoner icons who first hit the screen 25 years ago in Clerks are back again! When Jay and Silent Bob discover that Hollywood is rebooting an old movie based on them, the clueless duo embarks on another cross-country mission to stop it all over again. Jay and Silent Bob Reboot is both written and directed by iconic American filmmaker Kevin Smith, director of the films Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Jersey Girl, Clerks II, Zack and Miri Make a Porno, Cop Out, Red State, Tusk, and Yoga Hosers most recently.

Check out the trailer for Jay and Silent Bob Reboot below:

The full cast also includes Shannon Elizabeth, Joe Manganiello, Rosario Dawson, Justin Long, Joey Lauren Adams, Kate Micucci, James Van Der Beek, Craig Robinson, Harley Quinn Smith, Method Man, and Jason Biggs. However, that doesn’t account for the myriad of cameos. Everyone from Matt Damon and Chris Hemsworth to Ben Affleck and Tommy Chong. In fact, there are three separate Bat-men in the film.

In an interview with EW, Smith revealed just how many of these cameos came to be. In speaking about three different actors who portrayed Batman Smith kinda kept it hush-hush saying “three different Batmans in the movie, which is kind of amazing.” When asked whether he’d be willing to reveal exactly which former Batman actors are in the cast, Smith replied with a laugh stating, “No, I can’t.” But the trailer does showcase a brief moment with Affleck and a quick shot of Val Kilmer as Bluntman in the new reboot movie within a movie. “Chris Hemsworth made time during Avengers: Endgame press to come out and shoot with us for a day,” says Smith. “It was pretty amazing. I mean, the dude’s legit funny. So, we’ve got an Avenger in the movie! It’s a comic book-friendly cast, that’s for sure.”

Saban Films is teaming with Fathom Events to screen the film in more than 600 U.S. theaters on October 15th at 7 pm accompanied by a video introduction from Smith and Mewes, as well as bonus content. Then on October 17th, they’ll be hosting screenings of the film back-to-back with Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.
