Paramount has released a new featurette and teaser for A Quiet Place 2 as well as unveiled 3 new international posters (including an IMAX exclusive one) for the upcoming horror thriller from director John Krasinski.
The brand new trailer and a featurette showcase some pretty intense action and horror scenes, including a quick shot of some of the monsters just thrashing a family picnic to pieces. The footage highlights the fact that this time around, the film also involves other survivors of the alien apocalypse.
The video also recaps the first movie and reveals that the new film has a much bigger scale and more relentless pace. The trailer generally just consists of footage we’ve seen already, but there are some new shots in there so check them out below:
A Quiet Place Part 2 follows the deadly events at home, where we meet up again with the Abbott family (Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe), who must now face the terrors of the outside world as they continue their fight for survival in silence. Forced to venture into the unknown, they quickly realize that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats that lurk beyond the sand path.
Joining returning cast members Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe are Cillian Murphy and Djimon Hounsou.
[SPOILERS]
John Krasinski is also back, but only for flashback scenes, since his character did not make it out of the first movie alive.
Krasinski recently told Total Film that he was cautious about taking on the film’s sequel as he didn’t want it to become another tiresome horror franchise: “I haven’t heard from the studio that they want a third one,” he said. “But the good news is that the studio and I are on the same page in that this isn’t one of those franchises where we keep pumping them out if they make money. I think we’ve proven that this is an original idea that is beloved by people in a way that I don’t want to break that promise to people. [Nevertheless] I set up a couple of tiny little Easter eggs in Part 2 that not only explain more about [the first movie] but would allow for more mythology.”
Check out the new set of posters below too, including the original poster art released several weeks ago as well as the new IMAX exclusive poster:
The marketing for the horror sequel isn’t stopping at just some new trailer spots and posters. Paramount Pictures a new A Quiet Place 2 Dolby survival room experience. Fans in New York City and Los Angeles will get the opportunity to try and escape an obstacle course based on the movie. Visitors will have to maneuver their way through a challenging path as quietly as possible. Newborn babies optional but good luck with that.
“This multi-sensory experience entails an intense 5-7 minute progression—filled with physical and mental obstacles—for groups of three. This immersive, in-world recreation of A Quiet Place II tasks guests with keeping their decibel levels down and mitigating any sound in their surroundings…at all costs.”
A Quiet Place 2 hits theaters on March 20.
