The Mandalorian Season 2: First Trailer Teases The Return Of Some Familiar Faces

Featuring our first look at the new worlds the title character and Baby Yoda will visit, and teases for the re-emergence of the Jedi, Disney and Lucasfilm have released the first trailer for The Mandalorian Season 2, a mere month and a half before it’s set to premiere.

We thought that the first trailer for the second season would debut at this year’s Star Wars Celebration, but when that event was canceled due to the pandemic Lucasfilm and Jon Favreau decided to hold off on the release, but the time has finally come. So let’s check out the first trailer for The Mandalorian Season 2 right now!

The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic. Pedro Pascal (Kingsman: The Golden Circle) stars as the titular lone Mandalorian gunfighter.

As for what we get in the first trailer? The Mandalorian and his team travel by sea, by land, and by air (lots of traveling). We get a look at a mysterious woman in a hood briefly before vanishing. They also wind up at a sparring match whereupon Baby Yoda seeks shelter under the metal hood of his hover-stroller before the Mandalorian takes on a couple of bad guys.

From Stephen Sanchez;

Abyssins and Zabraks. Haven’t seen an Abyssin in a Star Wars movie since new Hope I think. Gonna be awesome.

That’s really it. Disney, Lucasfilm, and Favreau are playing it pretty close to the vest but we all know we’ll be checking this out at home. What else is there to do?

While we don’t know much about the second season we do know it will feature Timothy Olyphant as a character named Cobb Vanth who wears Boba Fett’s famous armor, Rosario Dawson as Clone Wars character Ahsoka Tano, Temuera Morrison as Boba Fett, and Katee Sackhoff as The Clone Wars‘ Bo-Katan in live-action form. And returning from Season 1 alongside Pascal are Gina Carano, Carl Weathers, and Giancarlo Esposito.

In addition to the announce of Boba Fett joining the character roster, multiple directors recently confirmed their involvement on the new season, including Robert Rodriguez (Alita: Battle Angel) and Ant-Man franchise director Peyton Reed, who joined a group the that already includes the returns of Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), Dave Filoni, Carl Weathers and Jon Favreau (The Lion King). Something could be said about this show, and that was the sheer talent and craftsmanship that went into bringing it to life.

The poster for the show’s second season was also released today:
