DC Correctly Chooses Original Lobo for Film

For once, DC has made the smart choice for one of their films on the first try.

In an effort to cash in on the surprising success of Deadpool, the people at DC have begun work on a violent R-rated comedy of their own, in the form of Czarnian bounty hunter Lobo. Scriptwriter Jason Fuchs (Wonder Woman) recently confirmed that he is working on the script for a Lobo film, and that he will be using the original version of the character as the source.

Ash vs Evil Dead Announces Six Million Dollar Addition to the Cast

They can rebuild him! They have the technology! Or at least the funds to hire him!

Starz Network’s smash hit of the season, Ash vs Evil Dead, had been searching for an actor man enough to play the father of their titular character. And what better choice than the Six Million Dollar Man himself? In another great casting move, Lee Majors, whose credits these last years consist mostly of indie films and one-off tv appearances, has accepted the role of Ash Williams’ father in the upcoming season, which premieres this fall. As this is completely new ground for the franchise, it will be interesting to see what direction they take Majors’ character.

The Goon Lives! Tim Miller’s Adaptation Appears to be Back on Track

Back before Tim Miller was directing his record-breaking smash hit Deadpool, he was one of the guiding forces behind developing the animated adaptation of Eric Powell’s comic series The Goon.

David Fincher signed on to produce the film in 2008 , working off a script from Powell himself, and recruited Miller to co-direct the project along with Jeff Fowler. The effort eventually culminated with a trailer length release of some test footage in 2012, not unlike the video that gained a large enough viral following to get Deadpool off the ground. However, unlike what happened with Deadpool, that was the last anyone heard about the project.

Freddy Krueger’s Glove Appears in “Ash vs Evil Dead”

Ash vs Evil Dead has become possibly our favorite new show of the year here at Grizzly Bomb. It’s definitely my top choice this season. And it doesn’t hurt that Sam Raimi and the deadites keep finding reasons to make me love this show even more.

For those viewers with a keen eye, you might have been able to spot the glove of a certain villain who haunts the children of Elm Street during the show’s season finale.

AMC Releases First Full Trailer for Preacher

The development of Garth Ennis’s Preacher into film has long seemed like a pipe dream for comic fans. Even after Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg announced their plans to create the series with the help of AMC, many remained skeptical, citing concerns over the series’ intensely graphic content and outlandish plot devices. Countdown to Halloween: A History of Modern Horror

Written by: Bobby Panzarella

Almost anyone you ask will tell you that horror’s Golden Era resides firmly within the ’80s (though the ’90s certainly held their own). How could it not be the ’80s? It was the decade of slasher villains, practical effects, and kickass synthesizer soundtracks. Not to mention just sheer greatness in numbers; we’re lucky to get one good horror movie a year nowadays! But one of the last gems of that era, Scream, has proven to be both a deafening end to the heyday of horror, and the beginning of something new.

Though it so effortlessly brought together and celebrated all the essential trademarks of the films before it, it effectively labeled the entire genre as silly and clichéd, not unlike what the Austin Powers films did for the James Bond series. Post Scream and its subsequent imitators (I Know What You Did Last Summer, Urban Legend, etc.), the state of horror has been hard to nail down. I’ve broken things down to a few major categories to give you a better grasp on what horror means to the millennial generation.
