There has been an awakening.

Star Wars 101: Every Jedi in the Star Wars Universe

Star Wars The Force Awakens opens next week, and considering the title it’s likely to feature new force users and potential future Jedi. Perhaps Rey and/or Finn will join Luke to bolster the ranks of the Jedi? But this isn’t a speculation piece delving into what next week might bring to the Star Wars universe, it’s about revisiting the history of the Jedi Order, more specifically, a look at ALL the Jedi that are in the new canon. That means no Kyp Durron, Mara Jade, the Solo siblings or any of your other favorites from the novels, comics and games that collectively were once known as the Expanded Universe.

Fans Treated to New Footage and Gameplay of the Final Fantasy VII Remake

Earlier this year Square Enix and Sony made a big splash at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) when they showed the announcement trailer for an upcoming remake of Final Fantasy VII. Though many fans have been asking and hoping for just such a thing to happen, many believed it never would. So, when the announcement trailer dropped back in June, people lost their minds.

This weekend, in what seems like a pretty short span of time, we were already treated to more footage of the game. Most interesting is the tiny bit of actual gameplay in the trailer, as it definitely looks to be a departure from the classic turn-based system that the original operated on in lieu of a more current, action oriented approach. Not surprising as the franchise has largely moved away from the classic combat systems of old in favor of a more fluid approach to battle. Take a look after the jump:

Star Wars Rebels Renewed for Third Season

“This is Master Obi-Wan Kenobi. I regret to report that both the Jedi and the Republic have fallen, with the dark shadow of the Empire rising to take their place. This message is a warning and a reminder for any surviving Jedi: Trust in the force.”

Those of you that are regularly tuning in to Disney XD’s Star Wars Rebels will be pleased to hear that it was picked up for a third season. The announcement came this past Monday. “We are proud to bring our audience a third season of Star Wars Rebels, a series that has resonated across generations,” said Marc Buhaj, Disney XD’s Senior Vice President, Programming and General Manager. The numbers definitely back his statement up as it’s the second most watched show on Disney XD, and the most watched show by adult viewers age 18-49.

War For The Planet of the Apes; What We Know Thus Far

The third installment of the Planet of the Apes reboot, War for the Planet of the Apes, started filming last month and director Matt Reeves tweeted out a set photo to mark the beginning of principal photography. Based on the motion capture suits worn by the actors in the shot points to them being apes, an apparent inverse of Charles Heston on the beach in Planet of the Apes back in 1968. Take a look.

Star Wars International Trailer Shows New Footage

A few weeks ago we got what we thought was the absolute final trailer for Star Wars The Force Awakens, and it did not disappoint as evidenced by the millions upon millions of views it already has. Well, yesterday Star Wars fans received an unexpected treat with an international trailer showing us more new footage, mostly of scenes we’ve gotten glimpses of in other trailers, as well as some new dialogue…and it’s great. Maybe better than the aforementioned trailer released a few weeks ago. Take a look.

Gotham: Rise of the Villains Adds New Cast Members

Thus far Gotham has ramped up quite a bit in its second season subtitled Rise of the Villains. It’s certainly bringing more and more bad guys to the table by injecting Theo Galavan (James Frain) and his crew into the city of Gotham, which has bolstered Robin Lord Taylor’s great portrayal of Oswald “The Penguin” Cobblepot. That, in conjunction with Cory Michael Smith’s portrayal of Edward Nygma and his continued descent into madness have really pushed the show forward.
