[SDCC] Archer Season 11 Trailer: An Awakened Archer And Premiere Date Reveal

Archer, the Emmy-winning comedy series, is returning to FXX for its 11th season with a back-to-back episode premiere on Wednesday, September 16th at 10 p.m. PT/ET.

The titular secret agent is back in the world we know him best. After getting shot and falling into a coma at the end of Season 7, the animated comedy took on three seasons of dream-induced fantasies which tossed Archer back into the 1940s, an adventure serial on a tropical island, and, finally, into outer space as an intergalactic mercenary. They were fun and a clever way to mix-up many things creator Adam Reed wanted to explore but it’s also equally excited to see Archer and co. return to a somewhat normal setting.

‘Archer’ Season 4 Clips to Help You Survive the Next Few Weeks

If I have to educate people on how awesome Archer is and that it’s one of the best (can I add underrated?) television shows on right now, then the world is lost to me. However, if you are a loyal reader to this site, you should know our love for Archer. If you’re not a loyal reader, then you really should be because we have great stuff and writers on this site that you’re missing out on. Anyways, we have a trailer plus several clips to help you get by through the day. So I’ll sit back and let you watch them because you really don’t need me to ramble on about how this show needs to get some sort of nomination from the Emmys or Golden Globes for writing alone. Just brilliant I say.

Added bonus before the clips, a media day thing that the ArcherFX Channel on YouTube threw in:

Archer Season 4 premieres Thursday January 17th, 2013 on FX at 10pm.

2012 Emmy Nominations Are Out, Who Got Snubbed?

It is that time of the year again where dreams get crushed, and the elite throw a party for themselves to give the obligatory ‘pat on the back’. The 2012 Emmy Nominations are in, and it’s time to fight for the snubbed and decry the undeserving. I have the list down there courtesy of EW, but let’s talk about what I think were great nominations and of course, the snubs.

FX Announces Return Dates for ‘Archer’ and ‘Justified’

Alright gang, fire up your DVRs and get ready for FX’s best shows not about Bikers or bars in Philadelphia to return.

First is the animated brilliance that is Archer. The story of a self-indulgent, American James Bond-Type (a comparison he doesn’t welcome), and the barley functional agency by which he is employed, Sterling Archer is television’s most entertaining spy. And come Thursday, January 19th, he is back on FX.

That follows though, the premiere of the 3rd season of Justified, which will air 2 nights earlier on the 17th.  Justified is maybe my favorite show on all of television, and is the earlier casting announcements (here and here) are any indication, this newest season is primed to continue the 2 years worth of excellent programming we’ve come to expect.

FX continues to edge out Showtime, AMC, and HBO as my favorite network for original programming.

Great News Animation Fans!! Archer, Futurama and Venture Bros. All Renewed

hit-by-car

Good news everyone! Futurama, Archer and the Venture Bros. have all been renewed! That’s right, some your favorite animated shows will be back to make us laugh, and hopefully offend lots of people.

Futurama is the T.V. show that just wouldn’t die. After Fox canceled the show, it was gone for nearly ten years before being revived with four straight-to-video DVDs, and then an ordering of episodes to be aired on Comedy Central. After thirteen new episodes it has been reported at IGN, that the Sci-Fi Comedy will air 39 new episodes carrying over into 2013.

I thought that when I watched the new episodes it might not have the same feel to it since it had such a long period of silence, but I was wrong. The voice actors hadn’t missed a beat. There were new fresh jokes and the same great animation, along with some new characters. I have to admit, my Futurama DVDs were becoming a bit worn, but now I can shelf them and enjoy the ‘Planet Express Crew’ in all new adventures for the next three years!

Venture Bros has also been renewed for at least two more seasons, and a 60-90 minute special according to the A.V. Club. Venture Bros is the best show currently on Adult Swim, mocking some of our favorite comic book concepts and cartoon shows, while following the exploits of the Venture family and their faithful bodyguard Brock Sampson. This show is one that gets progressively better as it goes on, and I absolutely loved Season One.

And finally the FX masterpiece Archer. This follows the trials and tribulations of one of the world’s most selfish and conceited spys to ever live. Great voice talent and an appealing artistic style combine with some of the best comedic writing on television to make this one of the funniest shows in years. Sterling Archer is my favorite spy in the history of media.

Sorry 007…

FX has announced that in addition to ordering another season of Justified, Archer will also be back for a 3rd year.

So now here is 3 of the best cartoons of the past 20 years, and they’re all coming back for another go around. Good news for all.
