Wonder Woman Updates and Casting News, And Why We Won’t See Lynda Carter

It’s been a couple of months since we checked in on Wonder Woman, and with her recent debut in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, it seemed like the perfect time to see how things were going with her 2017 solo feature.

Back in January we were treated to some snippets, but we haven’t seen much since then. That is until Warner Bros. (through Entertainment Weekly) released a new promotional shot of the Amazons…

Final Batman v. Superman Trailer Drops; God vs Man

“I don’t think you’ve ever known a woman like me.”

We’re not only weeks away from the arrival of the newest chapter in DC’s film universe, and perhaps the most ambitious movie they’ve ever done. Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice will mark the first time we have seen the Dark Knight and the Man of Steel together in a major feature release, but that’s not the half of it. Through in Wonder Woman and this film takes shape a whole other shape. Suddenly, this isn’t about Bats and the Big Blue Boy Scout, but about the whole DC universe. Flash, Cyborg, and Aquaman haven’t been shown in footage yet, but they are all said to make appearances here too.

New Batman v Superman Character Posters Showcase DC’s Trinity!

Three brand new posters have been released today, focusing on ‘the Trinity’ as they are known to most comic fans. Each poster features a new look at our main characters with their individual iconography to tease the film, which is still way too many months away.

The character posters show Henry Cavill as Superman looking damp and angry, with Ben Affleck in his Armored Bat Suit looking to sell mad toys, and Wonder Woman fully armed and ready to take the female superhero world by storm. You can check out the posters below after the jump.

The Bat of Gotham: 6 Alternate Faces Under the Cowl

We’ve been talking a lot about Batman over the last few days/weeks/years/our entire lives, both here on the site and in our daily discussions around the office. With the recent Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer we were further introduced to the newest man to play the role of Bruce Wayne, Ben “Batfleck” Affleck. We’ve talked a lot about Bruce Wayne as a father, a hero, a partner, and the Batman. But he isn’t the only man to wear the cape and cowl.

All of the Robins have grown up to wear the mantle of the bat, at some time in the past, present, or future. Dick Grayson successfully replaced Batman when he was presumed dead, Jason Todd wore his own armored suit as Batman during Battle for the Cowl, which eventually landed Grayson the role. In 2 possible futures, Tim Drake grows into a ruthless murdering Batman along with an evil version of his fellow Teen Titans, and Damian Wayne has been shown on more than one occasion to grow into his father’s cape as the future protector of Gotham City. Even if we take these Robins out of the picture, there is still quite the selection of characters that have appeared as Batman over the years.

Batman GordonMost recently in the comics we’ve seen yet another man take over the mantle of the Bat, James Gordon. While this is a fairly unconventional Batman, with Gordon piloting a robotic suit and working for the GCPD, it has provided a fresh view on Gotham and Batman’s role in the city.

Of course we all know that Bruce Wayne is always  going to return to the cave sooner rather than later, it’s always interesting to see how other characters can handle the daunting responsibilities of the Batman.

Today we are going to take a look at 6 other versions of Batman, some in-continuity and some spanning time and the multiverse. Starting with one of the worst fill-ins we’ve ever seen in the cowl…

Batman in the DC Extended Universe: Rumors, Robins and the Red Hood

Eagle-eyed viewers in the theater way back in early 2013 might have been quick to notice a specific little easter egg in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, but nobody really expected that to develop further than an interesting cameo. Which easter egg? I can only be talking about the Wayne Enterprises satellite that is destroyed during Superman and Zod’s climactic Metropolis-smashing battle, which is referencing another member of DC’s Trinity of heroes.

Jason Mamoa Adresses Aquaman Haters, “Just Wait”

Aquaman has endured years of mockery. Even in the pages of his own comic he has not always been appreciated for the powerful hero he is. Well, Jason Mamoa, who will take on the role in the upcoming Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice, the subsequent Justice League movies, and the eventual Aquaman stand alone, has a few words to say about how fans view his character.

Comic Book Cinema: A Look At What’s Next For Marvel and DC (2015-2016)

“It’s a good time to be a comic fan.”

I find myself making the above statement more and more every month, but it’s the truth. Great comics coming from great creators, a new era of fresh TV adaptations, and an unprecedented slate of films heading to the big screen are all a part of what make this a damn good time to be a Marvel and DC comic fan.
