Curse of Chucky slashed its way onto DVD shelves last week, and as part of a very clever advertising campaign we now have the chance to see how Chucky would react if he got caught up in other horror movies. Below are the four videos so far that Chucky has invaded, and they are fantastic little shorts. Modern horror like The Purge comes under fire from the tiny ginger killer, but horror classics like Psycho aren’t safe either. Chucky has been inserted perfectly into these videos and in some cases enhances the clips from the original movies.
The stand out short has to be the Psycho scene which has a brilliant sight gag in it with had this reviewer chuckling. But do not take my word for it see for yourself.
Grizzly Bomb has had its eye on the new Childs Play film Curse of Chucky for quite some time, and finally we have news that the new trailer has come online. The movie is going straight to Blu-Ray and DVD on October 8th, but don’t let that stop you from checking this out because this short trailer makes Chucky scary again. You can see for yourself below…
The reinvention of the Chucky doll design from stitched up, comical mad man to a reworked design of the original dolls from the first ChildsPlay movie has been a big pay off because this tweaked design looks incredibly creepy in every scene it’s in. The moment the dolls eyes expand you know this is going to be a more chilling affair than some of the more recent comical movies in the series.
The scene with him tormenting a wheelchair bound woman are reminiscent of the original TexasChainsawMassacre in the sense that they are both films feature tense scenes involving a victim stuck in a situation they could possibly avoid if only they were more mobile. It creates a real sense of foreboding.
The final scene in the trailer where Chucky stares up from behind his brow won this writer over. Chucky has suffered the same fate as Freddy did in the NightmareonElmStreet movies and become a bit to comical for his own good, so it is great to see this newer, more sinister take on the character. The damage the doll takes seems a lot more natural in this new film with one scene seemingly to show Chucky with a black eye. This seems to give the doll a more human quality to it, a nice juxtaposition to the blank doll expression we see in other scenes in this trailer.
Here is hoping that the film lives up to the standard the trailer has now set. In only a minute and 14 seconds it has managed to give us a new lease of life for the Childs Play series which will hopefully bring fresh blood to the franchise and keep Chucky alive…or whatever he is.
Recently Grizzly Bomb covered the news that a new film in Child’s Play franchise was soon to be released. Titled Curse of Chucky it follows in the footsteps of Texas Chainsaw and takes the series back to its roots while still keeping in the spirit of the original. This new storyline has Nicola (in some meta style casting is played by Fiona Dourif, daughter of Chucky’s voice Brad) grieving over the suicide of her mother and to make matters worse she gets a Good Guy doll mailed to here. You can guess what type of problems ensues after this.
Curse of Chucky is the latest in the popular and always entertaining horror series starring everyone’s favorite killer doll. Reprising his role as the plastic man wanting a real body is Brad Dourif who has teamed up with stars Fiona Dourif (True Blood), Danielle Bisutti (Get Smart) and Brennan Elliott (Double Jeopardy) to continue the tale of serial killer Charles Lee Ray who, when close to death performs arcane passages to live again, only to find he is stuck in a child’s doll.
It only took eight years, but us Chucky fans are finally getting another Child’s Play movie. A sixth entry in the always entertaining Chucky series has just been announced. It’ll be called Curse of Chucky and will serve as a direct-to-DVD sequel for all the fans who were asking for more. The film will, thankfully, be written and directed by Don Mancini who is the man behind literally every script for every Chucky movie in the series. Also, Brad Dourif will be returning as the voice of the iconic doll, but no other casting news has been announced.
