With the release of the latest Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer, we couldn’t have been more excited to see DC’s Trinity stand united on the big screen for the first time. And while this film will obviously focus more on Batman and Superman, we couldn’t help but wonder if we might see the comic relationship between Supes and WW explored in any future films.

The world of the X-Men has been going through some serious changes after the events of Avengers vs X-Men, especially when it concerns the former leader of mutantkind, Cyclops. Brian Michael Bendis has been crafting a new role for the X-Man that seems to take a page out of Magneto’s former book, and has him running a quasi-revolutionary group whose goals are separate from the mainstream X-men’s. His team has been playing a secondary role in Bendis’ All-New X-Men, the new series of Uncanny is set to follow his story along with his team of rebels which feature Magneto, Emma Frost, Magik, and some new recruits that are poised to become some big players.
Marvel has released a new preview for the second issue of Uncanny X-Men by Bendis and Chris Bachalo, and we’ll see with the series some great pencils, new costumes, and more from the new and dedicated Cyclops. Did I mention I was a huge Cyclops fan? Enough fan worship from me, let’s get to the preview!

Heading to living rooms soon is the somewhat anticipated X-Men: Destiny. While I do look forward to this game, I won’t be lining up for it or anything. Don’t get me wrong, I love the premise and the gameplay looks adequate. But usually when I play an X-Men game I want to play as an X-Man(or Woman). I may be a little picky here, so let’s just say I will be picking it up when it comes out, but my expectations aren’t huge.
Continue reading X-Men: Destiny – Behind-the-Scenes Trailer and Cover Art
Well that wasn’t a very long wait for the second issue of the X-men’s big event for the year. After last issue I was hoping that there was going to be some good action and extended Sentinel fight scenes. Instead we get to see numerous X-men mopping up malfunctioning Sentinels across the world. These Sentinels all turned on their masters of course due to the tampering of the newest Black King of the Hellfire Club, Kade Kilgore, who is twelve…. Yup. I just can’t get over that whole aspect of the story right now, that this little kid and now a couple of his little kid friends are involved in trying to take over the world or enslave mutants or something. I’m sure we’ll be finding out soon enough.
I was also a bit disappointed in the change of artist. Don’t get me wrong, I love Frank Cho’s art but it just felt awkward after Pacheco did such a fantastic job last issue. Wolverine was still great and I enjoy his and Idie’s moments, short though they may be. But overall nothing interesting really happened. I thought maybe Quentin Quire’s annoying ass may have posed a threat of some sort but they basically turned him into quite the joke by the end of the issue. Why wouldn’t Cyke just let Wolvie stab the little bastard?
I give the issue 1 out of 5 bears. What a waste. I’m not losing hope though, I will pick up issue three to see this thing through. Even if it’s bad at that point I might as well go to issue five also. I’m a trooper and I go down with the sinking ship!
Schism starts off with one theme common in the X-books: Humans hate and fear mutants. Cyclops and Wolverine head off to ask the world to stop the proliferation of various Sentinel programs. Now if you’ve forgotten what Sentinels are, they are big ole’ purple and magenta robots whose speciality is to hunt down and eliminate mutants. In a world where mutants are feared, these Sentinels throughout various countries act as deterrents to mutants the same as nukes do to humans. In the middle of Cyclops’ speech it is of course interrupted by none other than Quentin Quire who I haven’t seen since the Grant Morrison days of the New X-men during the ‘Riot at Xavier’s’ storyline. I actually hated the little turd with a passion but he serves a purpose here, throwing the world into panic against mutants with his antics.
The Schism story so far is decent, though after the reveal on the last page I’m skeptical about where it may be going. You’ll know what I’m talking about when you reach the end. I’m sure by the midway point we’ll see the X-men start to fracture between Wolverine and Cyclops and we will have seen plenty of Sentinel bashing throughout. I’m interested to see how they handle the Hellfire Club in the series and its new leader which is the part I find so ridiculous.
Wolverine had to have been my favorite character in the issue, blowing off a group of students at the beginning of the issue because he’s so exhausted. You would be too if you were on the Avengers and several X-Teams! By the end though he has bought a gift for one of the students he blew off and joins her in eating some ice cream. Cheesy? A little bit, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.
Overall I give the first issue of Schism a 3 out of 5 bears.
They have me interested to read the next issue, I love sentinels and I never seem to tire of the art of Carlos Pacheco. The points I took away are because of this ludicrous story point involving a young little fell named Kilgore, but maybe more will be revealed in the next issue pertaining to him.
What’s a summer blockbuster without its prerequisite movie tie-in video game? Well, its still a summer blockbuster but it… hmmm… I don’t really know where I was going with that but it doesn’t matter. So yes, we are here to talk about Superhero video games, but we’ll start with the movie tie-ins.

This issue was a must, with everyone being left without any closure and wondering what the after effects of the Age of X would have on our favorite mutants. I also wondered what the heck happened to Legion at the end? Didn’t Xavier say they didn’t know where he was? How would they deal with him? Would anyone smack Dr. Nemesis in the face for dropping the ball on his treatment on Legion? I would say all of that was answered in this issue for the most part.

Even though I am eagerly awaiting the Schism storyline in the X-men comic books, the first issue of the prelude to it was really nothing special.
The issue starts with some unknown threat about to hit Utopia and Cyclops and his top advisors including Wolverine and Magneto are debating on how to handle it: run or fight. Most have made their position clear and await Cyclops’ decision as he contemplates what to do.
