Dune: New Trailer Showcases All-Star Cast In Denis Villeneuve’s Adaptation

Warner Bros has dropped the second official trailer for Denis Villeneuve’s epic adaption of Dune, based on the classic sci-fi novel by Frank Herbert. This is the first time we’re seeing any new footage of the anticipated film since the first trailer debuted one year ago.

In the far future of humanity, Duke Leto Atreides accepts stewardship of dangerous desert planet Arrakis, also known as “Dune”, the only source of the most valuable substance in the universe, “the spice”, a drug which extends human life, provides superhuman levels of thought, and makes foldspace travel possible. Though Leto knows the opportunity is an intricate trap set by his enemies, he takes his Bene Gesserit concubine Lady Jessica, young son and heir Paul, and most trusted advisers to Arrakis.

Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have released the first trailer for Denis Villeneuve‘s adaptation of Frank Herbert’s iconic novel, Dune.

A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, Dune tells the tale of Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet), a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence — a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential — only those who can conquer their fear will survive.

No, Mr. Bond, I Expect You To Die: The 10 Best James Bond Villains

With the recent announcement that two-time Academy Award winner Christoph Waltz would be joining James Bond 24, we here at Grizzly Bomb thought we’d take a stab at listing the top 10 best Bond villains in the franchise’s 50-year history.

Waltz is capable of exuberant charm and manipulative anger, making him an absolutely apt choice for Bond’s newest nemesis. It’s still unconfirmed whether or not that will indeed be Waltz’s role. We do know that Chiwetel Ejiofor was in the running to be the next Bond villain back in April, but the deal fell through. We can only assume Christoph Waltz is now up for said villainous role, with whispers that Bond’s SPECTRE-running adversary Ernst Stavro Blofeld is the main villain. We can just see the glee in which Waltz will take with such a role if it proves true. Stay tuned for more updates on that.

James Bond Will Return in “Daniel Craig is Swimming in Money”

It looks like we’ll have to get used to a blond Bond for a little while longer. According to EmpireOnline and Deadline, Daniel Craig will be donning the tux and Walther PPK for the foreseeable future. Craig, James Bond since the fantastic 2006 Casino Royale, has signed on to be in at least two more 007 movies. This will take him into the 25th (official) film of the Ian Fleming character franchise. He will have done five Bond films by the end of his contract.

Sony Pictures also is involved in the deal with making the deal with the newly restructured MGM to co-produce the next couple of films. This is of no shock to no one because they definitely made a lot of money backing Daniel Craig as the spy since Casino Royale. Their plan is still to get a Bond film out every two years to capitalize on the money train they have been riding on since they had to wait for the new 007 film Skyfall for the last four years because Quantum of Solace arrived in theaters in late 2008.

This is a great decision of course. As much as Quantum of Solace blew open ass (Dr. Kronner and our group of friends almost got into a fight with a punk teen wearing a skullcap…probably would’ve been more entertaining in hindsight), Craig definitely offered a newer insight as the “blunt instrument” Bond, ready to take on all comers and still inhabit a dark side and brooding that would make Timothy Dalton jealous. Casino Royale remains a great “reboot” of the franchise and by the looks of it, Skyfall looks AMAZING. I am actually glad they took their time with this flick because Quantum felt rushed and lacked purpose. I hope the filmmakers took note of this. Of course, the cinematography in the trailer is just gorgeous and while that should be an obvious statement in a big budget flick, there seems to be a higher focus on the imagery that surrounds our favorite MI6 agent. Basically, I’m saying I’m geeked and Daniel Craig is able to jump back into the role and happy to see what other layers he can bring to James Bond. now that’s out-of-the-way, cue the Bond girls (including Eva Green for the Doc)!

Save the Dark Tower! Save the Dark Tower!

I’ve honestly run out of Dark Tower pictures from writing articles about how many times this damned is happening and then isn’t happening and then is happening again – 4/8/11, 5/6/11, 7/20/11 – but hey, there’s more casting news to report…. recasting that is. It would appear that ‘Maximus’ himself – Russell Crowe will be taking the place of Javier Bardem as the badass gunslinger and main character ‘Roland Deschain’. Of course this is all just speculation at this point.

‘Skyfall’ Teaser: Bond is Back for the 23rd Time…Officially

Skyfall is the title of the latest installment to the 007 legacy. While that name lacks the panache of a The Spy Who Loved Me, it does deliver us James Bond, played here for the third time by Daniel Craig.

The studio has just released a new teaser trailer for the movie, which should be out sometime around Christmas…

James Bond is Back for Round 23 – ‘Skyfall’ Casting News

Filming began on November the 7th for the 23rd Bond film entitled Skyfall – quite frankly, a ridiculous title in my opinion, but eminently better than Quantum of Solace (Which despite terrible reviews, wasn’t that bad). This is a little round up of the facts…

In case you missed our last casting update, here is an overview of what we know so far. Daniel Craig is returning as Bond – his 3rd time – as is Dame Judi Dench – her 7th time as M. They are joined by director Sam Mendes (American Beauty). All three of these things are good news as  they are all excellent.

Ben Whishaw will be playing master of gadgets Q. Skyfall will be Whishaws 4th film with Daniel Craig, appearing as he does in The Trench, Enduring Love and Layer Cake. This will be the first time the character has appeared since 2002’s Die Another Day – where he was played by John Cleese. It will also be the first time Q has been younger than Bond. Whishaw is an accomplished actor and I’m sure he’ll be great.

This will be French actress and model Berenice Marlohe‘s  first international film. She will play Severine, who will be – according to the actress – “glamorous” and “enigmatic”. How good an actor she is I don’t know, but she certainly looks ever inch the Bond girl. Naomie Harris (perhaps most famous for her role in the Pirates of The Caribbean movies, and has also appeared in 28 Days Later and A Cock & Bull story) is to play a character called Eve. Early reports speculated that the character would be Miss Moneypenny, though this is looking less likely now.

Javier Bardem the brilliant actor from No Country for Old Men (as well as Collateral and Jamon Jamon) is to be the films main villain, which is something we know he can pull off. Helen McCrory, is most famous for playing ‘Narcissa Malfoy’ in the Harry Potter movies. But she was also ‘Cherie Blair’ in The Queen, and appeared in the Doctor Who episode Vampires of Venice. She is now set to play a character called Claire Dowar. Playing so far unspecified roles are Swedish actor Ola Repace (Wallander), the legend that is Albert Finney and self-professed Bond fan – and all round fabulous actor – Lord Voldemort Ralph Fiennes (Nanny McPhee & the Big Bang, Wallace & Grommet: Curse of the Were-Rabbit and Schindler’s List).

There has already been filming in London. Other locations are apparently going to be Istanbul, China and Wales. Skyfall will be released next year as part of the year long celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the release of Doctor No, and the start of the Bond franchise. It’s due to premiere in London on the 26th of October. General US release dates are currently said to be between 23rd of October and the 7th of December – the UK on the 26th October and the US the 9th of November.

James Bond 23: Moneypenny Cast, Javier Bardem and Ralph Fiennes Also to Star

Sick of not seeing little Miss Moneypenny in the Daniel Craig Bond movies? Well then shut your face because she’s finally been cast in the form of actress Naomie Harris, known mostly for her role as Tia Dalma in the second and third Pirates of the Caribbean movies. For those of you not familiar with Moneypenny in the Bond films, she is the assistant to James Bond’s boss M. In the role of assistant, she is bombarded with all sorts of sexual harassment from 007 to no avail on his part. She may be the only chick Bond hasn’t banged. Will he finally make his dream a reality in this next spy escapade? Or will she perhaps play a bigger role in the movie, because that would be nice instead of a brief appearance so all of the Bond fans can laugh at the latest Bond sexual quips.

Naomie Harris as Moneypenny isn’t the only casting news to come out for Bond 23. Two heavy hitters appear to joining the film as well. Check out a small blurb from IGN below:

In addition to reporting Harris’ casting, The Daily Mail also says acclaimed actors Javier Bardem and Ralph Fiennes are set to appear in Bond 23, which begins filming later this year.

And here is how the actors will be portrayed in Bond 23!

Unfortunately there is no mention of what roles they might be playing in the movie, though with Ralph Fiennes I would think he’d play one hell of a villain. I mean come on, he’s freakin’ Voldemort! Bardem I guess could go either way as a villain or ally to Bond. I’m just excited that filming starts this year and there is a strong cast. Anyone out there excited for more Bond? Or is 007 wearing thin on you?

Javier Bardem Ready to Sling Guns in ‘The Dark Tower’
