BBC is no stranger to quality television and crime solving dramas. Apparently they are no stranger to creative editing either.
With both Sherlock and Luther set for limited return in the coming weeks, and The Fall coming back sometime in 2016, the BBC put out a new promo featuring their three most popular detectives. Check it out below.
Last week we announced that Oberyn Martell had been cast and the pieces are now continuing to fall into place. The latest Game of Thrones casting news is that Indira Varma has been cast to portray Ellaria Sand in the upcoming fourth season of Game of Thrones. Varma is the 3rd alumni of the HBO show Rome to have joined the cast so far, following Ciarán Hinds (Mance Rayder) and Tobias Menzies (Edmure Tully) over.
Some of the best television shows of the last decade have originated in the UK and are slowly starting to find their way to the US. One of these such shows is Luther starring Idris Elba. The story of Detective Chief Inspector John Luther is a dark and violent one. His obsession with his job has cost him his wife, but gained him a serial killer friend and a porn star protégé. Always under the watchful eye of his fellow law enforcement officials, and repeatedly suspected of being dirty, John Luther is one of the most interesting characters on television. He takes all those old stereotypes about cop shows and somehow makes them fresh again.
Well the second season of the BBC hit Luther(which already aired in the UK) is set to premiere on BBC America tonight, and I can tell you – it’s excellent. If you aren’t familiar with the show, it stars Idris Elba (The Wire) as ‘John Luther’, an English Homicide Detective who often heads up the most gruesome of cases and is dealing with the end of his marriage.
Sounds pretty standard no? Well, it’s not. In fact, it’s extraordinary. The writing, how it’s shot, even the music are all brilliant. And season 1 is available streaming on Netflix. At only 6 episodes, the first season is a quick and easy watch, and it’s one I can’t recommend more highly. I watched it straight though.
So Season 2 makes its American debut tonight, and I meant to get this up sooner so people might have time to get caught up, but I’m a terrible person so here we are. Anyhow, here is some teasers for season 2…
