“In Norse mythology, Ragnarök is a series of future events, including a great battle, foretold to ultimately result in the death of a number of major figures (including the gods Odin, Thor, Týr, Freyr, Heimdallr, and Loki), the occurrence of various natural disasters, and the subsequent submersion of the world in water.”
While Thor: Ragnarök still is a while away, there have been several updates recently, all following rumors of some hiccups in production. Around the beginning of the year we reported about the rumored, now confirmed, casting of Cate Blanchett as Hela the Goddess of Death. Mark Ruffalo is also confirmed as he reprises his role as Bruce Banner.

We are fast approaching the release of the third Captain America film, which hits theaters in May. Today they dropped their latest trailer, and as well received as the last couple were, I would say this is gonna be the one people remember. This movie has fans excited for several reasons; Introduction of Black Panther, Ant-Man joining the other heroes, we got a glimpse of Crossbones, and perhaps the biggest headline – Marvel bringing home your friendly neighborhood wall-crawler. In a tale of two Benedicts, we’ve finally seen the addition of a key role in the story of Marvel’s Dr. Stephen Strange. Joining the cast of Scott Derrickson’s Doctor Strange is Benedict Wong, playing the Doctor’s most trusted ally and companion, Wong.
Benedict Wong was most recently seen in Ridley Scott’s The Martian and Prometheus, as well as Netflix’s Marco Polo. He’ll be joining his other namesake Benedict Cumberbatch in the lead role, alongside Rachel McAdams, Scott Adkins, Michael Stuhlbarg, Amy Landecker, and Mads Mikkelsen in an unrevealed villainous role (which is more than likely the demonic Dormammu).

It seems at the moment, in Hollywood you need a franchise if you are going to be a player in the cinematic market. Since the massive success of Marvel Studios Cinematic Universe and the financial success of the Transformers franchise, it seems Hasbro is next in looking at a shared cinematic universe.

It doesn’t seem that long ago that we were waiting patiently for the release of the first season of Daredevil on Netflix. The first of the planned Defenders series from Marvel and Daredevil, the geek world saw a mass binge watch when the whole series was released. After only a few days most of us were finished the series and already pining for more from Hell’s Kitchen.
Season 2 was announced pretty quickly following the success of Daredevil, and we learned about some new additions to the cast while we made ourselves ready for the second series in Netflix’s little corner of the MCU, Jessica Jones. It was revealed that both the Punisher and Elektra would be featuring in the second season, played by Jon Bernthal and Elodie Yung, respectively.
While we’ve seen a few pictures of Bernthal as Frank Castle from the set, today we received our first official images of the characters from Entertainment Weekly, whom also released the official images yesterday of Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange. We’ll take a look at the pictures after the jump.

By the Hoary Hosts of Hoggoth! We finally get our first look at the best name in Hollywood in full costume for Scott Derrickson’s Doctor Strange! That’s right, Benedict Cumberbatch graces the cover of Entertainment Weekly with our first official look at the Doc’s costume, and we couldn’t be happier.
Continuing the run of great costumes we’ve seen from Marvel lately, Cumberbatch seems to be in a fairly comic accurate outift, which is further reinforced by some of the other pics released in the same issue of EW.
We’ll show you both the cover and the concept pictures which showcase the costume as well as some origin plot points, the Sanctum Sanctorum (his HQ) and what might be our first look at the mystical Astral Plane.

Those who tuned into Jimmy Kimmel Live last night were given a pretty amazing treat as Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. brought the first officially released footage from the next huge film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – Captain America: Civil War.
Now I want to spend a few paragraphs going over some of the politics represented within the trailer and how it reflects on our modern societies… ah screw it. Let’s just watch the trailer, that’s what you came here for anyway.

There has been a lot of news regarding Marvel and Netflix’s particular corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe over the last couple of years. The initial announcement dropped with the big news that the long in development Daredevil adaptation, whose rights had recently reverted back to Marvel, would be airing exclusively as a Netflix Original Series. Of course that wasn’t the only announcement made at the time, as we learned that Daredevil would be joined by a few other street level heroes. These heroes would each be getting their own series before starring together in a mini-series event known as The Defenders. We have already seen the first season of Daredevil, and are all just about to sit and binge Jessica Jones, which hits Netflix in its entirety tonight!
