Hilarious Trailer For Writing and Directing Debut from Dax Shepard called ‘Hit & Run’

A lot of people remember Dax Shepard as being that guy who was famous for a little while in the mid 2000s and then sort of fell off the wagon as far as being famous goes. I really don’t know why though. He’s talented, funny, and actually a talented actor. I think that both Without a Paddle and Employee of the Month, and even Let’s Go To Prison are all completely underrated comedies that really showed Shepard’s range as a comedian.

Anyway, after taking some time off from the limelight, Shepard is back with a hilarious trailer for his writing and directing debut. The film is called Hit & Run and it follows a former getaway driver nicknamed Charlie Bronson, who’s in witness protection, and his girlfriend (and real-life fiance), the always lovely Kristen Bell. After landing a dream job in LA, the two plan to make a trip out there, but Charlie’s past gets in the way. An old accomplice played by Bradley Cooper swoops in looking for money that Charlie owes him, explaining that he spent 8 months in prison for this money.

Now, Charlie has to find a way to get the money before things go really bad. Also in search of Charlie is a federal agent played by Tom Arnold who is in charge of keeping him safe at all costs. The whole thing amounts to what looks to be a wild and hilarious ride from the mind of one of the most undervalued comedians in Hollywood. The trailer itself is frenetic and chaotically funny as it goes from one wild scenario to the next. From Tom Arnold accidentally catapulting a bowling ball from his car, to the gang busting in on a hotel room full of naked old people, to seeing Bradley Cooper in a believable set of dreads, Hit & Run seems to have it all and then some.

The Daily…err…The Daly Show

Today Gamma Squad posted an episode of ‘The Daly Show‘ which guest starred Michael Rosenbaum and Malcom Reynolds Nathan Fillion. So I watched it and loved it and wondered how it was that I had not heard about this show sooner. So I went back and watched the first 6 episodes and I gotta say, they’re hilarious.

Tim Daly and his son Sam play themselves and in a series of 5 minute episodes deal with real issues, like looking like a douche and wether or not Taye Diggs tastes like chocolate.

I loved when Fillion pulled out the hammer, an obvious nod to his role as ‘The Hammer’ in Dr. Horrible’s Sing-A-Long Blog. It’s nice to see guys having fun with stuff like this and not taking themselves too seriously. This was probably my favorite episode, but ‘The Daly Double’ isn’t far behind. What’d you think?

The Return of Smallville… Via Comic Book!

Smallville may be over, but DC Comics is giving the loyal fans of the loosely based Superman show a little somethin’ somethin’ in the form of a Smallville comic book! According to IGN, the comic will be released in small parts throughout April digitally and then in a full comic book in May. And for those of you who initially worried like I did that it would take place in between all of the Smallville episodes, have no fear. The comic will take place after the show ended and after Clark finally donned the Super suit!

“Six months after Clark Kent donned the cape and took to the skies to save Earth from Apokolips… enter Season 11!” explains Miller. “New allies abound! New enemies afoot! And old friends return where they’re least expected! Pere and colorist Chris Beckett have done a fantastic job of capturing the look of the show and the players, and Gary and Cat are knocking it out of the park on covers. I couldn’t be more excited to help give seasoned viewers and new readers an all-access pass to Clark’s first year in the cape.” 

The announcement confirmed that alongside Clark will be show regulars Oliver Queen, Chloe Sullivan, Lois Lane, and even Lex Luthor. 

I guess if I have to see Michael Rosenbaum Lex Luthor in comic book form then that will suffice. But really, I can’t wait to see what they do with new villains from the Superman world and possibly even bringing back old ones. I for sure was not overly impressed with the fight against Doomsday because it was like watching a Mike Tyson fight on pay per view. But in comics as with animation, they can pretty much do whatever they want.

I’ll be very interested to see how everything has played out since the show has ended. How is Lex after his memory of knowing Clark was pretty much erased? What about the other twenty people who know Clark’s secret identity and didn’t have a memory wipe? I’m ready and waiting for this comic to come out in the next couple of months because Smallville is like Star Wars to me; I don’t want it to end even though it’s not quite what it used to be. Though this comic does have some potential to be pretty damned good. It will almost be like an Elseworlds comic or Superman: Earth One. What about the rest of the Smallville faithful? Review: Smallville – Season 10/Series Finale

It took a few minutes to sink in before I realized that it was the last time I would hear the Smallville theme song playing at the beginning of a new episode because tonight it happened: the series finale. I’ve been with the show many years, through the highs and the lows. Of course there were going to be terrible episodes I would despise over the course of the show and certain directions they took continuity that I don’t agree with but Smallville still remains one of my favorite shows of all time after ten seasons.

The episode opens with Chloe telling a child a story and then flashes back seven years earlier with Apokolips inexorably heading towards Earth…then the typical commercial break and theme song opening as I wait in anticipation!

Give It a Chance: ‘Breaking In’

Every year, without fail we are subjected to a plethora of shoddy TV series and network hopefuls, and almost every year these shows fail. Low ratings, terrible stories, or zero network backing are the main reasons for a show to fail, and sometimes, it’s just not fair. Ask Doc about Terriers and you’ll understand what I’m talking about.

So I figured to try to fight this yearly slump of terrible shows and apathetic viewers, it makes sense to highlight the different series that I think are worth their time slot, in order to make it easier for you to weed through the crap and find the gold. So that brings us to the first show I encourage you to try out this season.

Breaking In stars Bret Harrison (Reaper), Odette Annable (who used to go by Odette Yustman in Cloverfield and The Unborn), and Christian Slater, who really had nowhere else to go but TV. Breaking In tells the story of Cam (Harrison), a high-profile computer hacker who is selected to work at ‘Contra Security’, a company that specializes in testing out their client’s security systems, hence the clever name of the show. Now why should you watch this show above all other newcomers this season?

Smallville: Zod Returns

It would appear they are definitely pulling out all the stops for this final season of Smallville. We get Darkseid, Booster Gold and Blue Beetle, Michael Rosenbaum will be returning as Lex Luthor, and now Callum Blue will return in two weeks to reprise the role of the villainous Kryptonian Zod.

I’m not sure what the general fan consensus was with Callum Blue’s performance as Zod, but even though I found him irksome at first, he definitely grew on me throughout season 9. By the end of the season he was a vile SOB, continuing on with his fetish of always wanting people to kneel for him. It will be good to see what became of him after all of the Kryptonians were transported to another world to live in peace. Something tells me that Zod wasn’t all that peaceful, or this in fact General Zod who took over Lex’s body in season 5/6, and not Major Zod from season 9. Actually from the looks of this picture I tend to lean towards it being the General version from season 5 and 6.

So is it just me or is that taking place in the Phantom Zone? If so, then it would appear it is General Zod since the last time he fought Clark it ended with him being sent back there. This episode will be taking place on April 29th in the episode called Dominion. I can’t wait! Now I just have to catch up on the last few episodes via DVR, because after all, the last episode of Smallville airs in May!
