During the promotional tour for his newest film Crimson Peak, Guillermo del Toro created a bit of a stir with news that his next project would be a smaller film, something in the vein of his 2006 film Pan’s Labyrinth. But now it turns out that will not be his next project, we’ll try to clarify all the details.

Size Does Matter: Why King Kong Would Lose in Godzilla/Pacific Rim Jaeger Brawl
Godzilla versus King Kong versus the Pacific Rim Jaegers. Talk about a fanboy (and fangirl, let’s not be sexist here)’s wet dream! And such a big screen brawl would be theoretically possible with the big ape moving from Universal Studios to Warner, which owns rights to both Godzilla and Pacific Rim via Legendary Pictures.

2013’s Most Anticipated Summer Movies
It’s May and you know what time it is: The Summer Movie season begins! For the last half of my life, I have set out every first week of May (sometimes last week of April) and waited with gleeful anticipation for the first action packed popcorn movie to come out. I would always gather large groups of people in my high school and college days to get together for one giant extravaganza of movie watching. Some movies were great and others were downright terrible (looking at you Spider-Man 3), but it was always big event dating back to when my dad would take me out the first weekend of the season and we’d revel in the events that unfolded on the silver screen. Stars are made in the summer and these movies that myself, Brian, and Amanda went through, should be on the top of your guys’ lists, as well as a few honorable mentions.
CinemaCon Showcases New Blockbuster Movie Posters Galore!
Recently a whole bunch of new posters were revealed for some of the most anticipated new Hollywood blockbuster releases. The event took place in Las Vegas, Nevada at the annual CinemaCon (formerly called ShoWest) event. This is where major Hollywood studios give exclusive glimpses into their new products. Below are some of the more interesting posters displayed on that day.
All of these look stunning but what caught my eye was the teaming of Ryan Reynolds and a very steam punk looking Jeff Bridges in R.I.P.D. The Hangover part 3 has the most interesting designed poster, with its gatefold cover parodying pretty much every other Hollywood blockbuster poster out there. To see more of these posters please check out the Cinema Blend website.
Before that though look at the posters that were shown on Hollywood Reporter showing the incredible looking Pacific Rim movie directed by Guillermo del Torro. My favorite poster is the retro styled war posters mimicking the enlisting posters of old.
All in all some pretty impressive film posters have come out recently. Here is hoping that the movies live up to the posters hype. Keep checking Grizzly Bomb to find out if they do.
Guillermo Del Toro’s ‘Pacific Rim’ – First Trailer
After a five year hiatus from theaters, Guillermo Del Toro explodes back onto the scene with the first trailer for the highly anticipated Pacific Rim. Humans always expected aliens to come from the skies, so what happens when the aliens come from a portal in the ocean? We build giant mechs and kick their asses, of course! Something about this reminds me of the old Godzilla movies…but with more insanity!
After the aliens destroy the coastal cities and leave much of humanity in ruins, a program is started to create giant mechs called Jaegers to combat the monsters. (Insert Jaegerbomb joke here.) But seriously folks, look at this trailer and tell me that doesn’t look like the next great summer monsterfest:
The film has an all star cast including Charlie Hunnam, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Ron Perlman, Idris Elba, Burn Gorman and Clifton Collins Jr., already seems to be at a scope of epic proportions. (Side note: Charlie Day is in this? As in, “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s” Charlie? I’m sold just on that alone.)
Scheduled for release July 12, 2013, Pacific Rim promises to be a badass trip with insane special effects.
CCI 2012: Legendary Screams “Godzilla!” At WB Panel
This literally came out of nowhere; Legendary Pictures has revealed test footage to give Comic-Con an adrenalin rush which from reports suggests it worked.
And here’s what happened after the Pacific Rim Panel.
The panel for Pacific Rim ended and del Toro and the actors left the stage, but Hardwick asked Tull if he had anything left, to which he replied, “Well maybe.” The lights went down and footage rolled. No one knew what we were being shown. The clip opened with a devastated city that looked like it had been ravaged by a massive force. Buildings had chunks missing, things were on fire, and as the camera panned around the city we saw what looked like a sort of creature lying on the ground.
The screen went dark, we heard a familiar roar, and then we saw an epic Godzilla walk out of the smoke. Though we didn’t get to see much of the creature since this is merely a test reel and not footage from the film, what we did see looked really, really promising. The crowd went absolutely nuts over this footage, and rightly so. The lights came up and Tull talked a bit about what’s in store for Godzilla.
Though the realistic approach is evident, it’s obvious that Godzilla will still be a monster movie. It doesn’t look like this’ll be a “solemn to a fault” approach. The film will (hopefully) be really character-centric while still being a feast for the eyes. I’m sure we’ll hear more soon, but the project looks to be in great hands with Edwards.

So what where the impression from fans? Well I have an IGN impressions video below.
But I can only imagine thousands of people coming out of that test footage, doing this:
