Highland Film Group has released an official trailer for Jiu Jitsu, and it looks exactly how you think a movie starring Nic Cage fighting aliens in an insane mix of sci-fi fantasy and action martial arts would look.
Every six years, an ancient order of expert Jiu Jitsu fighters faces a fearsome alien invader in a battle for Earth. When war hero and master Jiu Jitsu fighter Jake Barnes refuses to face Brax, the indomitable leader of the invaders, the future of humanity hangs in the balance. Injured and suffering from amnesia, Jake is captured by a military squad that has arrived on the planet and is rescued by Wylie (Cage) and a team of fellow Jiu Jitsu fighters who must help him recover his memory and regain his strength for an epic battle that will once again determine the fate of mankind.
Check out the first trailer for Jiu Jitsu which IGN premiered earlier this week:

Horror movie characters like Freddy, Jason and the rest have managed to span numerous genres, not just the cinematic universes they were originally born into.
Jason Voorhees for example has his own video game currently in the works, plus old Spectrum and NES games from the 1980s, as well as a board game (called Last Friday) inspired by his murderous antics. And he is not alone.

Judge Dredd is a staple of the British comic industry. His exploits have been documented in a fantastic story arc, with Dredd getting older through each issue and his view points changing throughout the comic book series.
So it is not surprising that this wealth of Mega-City 1 history would eventually be mined for the big screen.

There have been numerous Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles video games released, and depending on how old you are, you will have your own personal favorite. For me growing up in the 80s, I would always hit the arcades to play on one of the coolest games around, the Turtles arcade game.

Predator vs Judge Dredd vs Aliens
It had to happen eventually. Judge Dredd, the lawman of the future has come across many a foe in his time ranging from fighting Lobo to twisted versions of himself. So it is no surprise when we hear he is soon to go against both the xenomorphic menace of the alien, and the hunting skills of the predator all at the same time.

Collectibles. We here at Grizzly Bomb love them, and as a previous collector myself I am always on the lookout for some awesome new plastic creation that (if I cannot buy), I can at least talk about at some length. So it was pretty fantastic to come across Hiya Toys, a company that specializes in small 1:18 inch figures of some characters you may recognize.
The companies brief pretty much tells you that they are ready for business, and they’re not fooling around. This can certainly be seen in the work they have produced so far.

When you think of hunters, many images come to mind depending on your frames of reference. For me as soon as I hear the word hunter I am instantly transported to a far off jungle where a gang of commandos are fighting for their lives against an intergalactic foe. That’s right I’m thinking about the Predator.
Seems I am not the only one thinking about the character as the dread-locked, voice mimicking “ugly son of a bitch” has never really been away from popular culture. In comic books he has positively thrived, with numerous titles shedding light on the species’ exploits, while fan films like Predator: Dark Ages take the Predator mythos into historical time zones.

The interstellar alien hunter race known as Predators have taken on many adversaries. From fellow alien creatures like the Xenomorph, to commando leader Dutch and former Lethal Weapon star Danny Glover (AKA Lieutenant Mike Harrigan), they have covered the globe in their hunt for the perfect competition. Recently there has been a step back to the cinematic style of the 1980s, and with it the movies that use this style are bringing back a forgotten (by some, not by me) format, the VHS tape. Drive and Hobo with a Shotgun are two of the earliest versions I can think of that have encapsulated the spirit and aesthetics of the ’80s.
Hobo with a Shotgun in particular takes the gritty, grimy feel of the VHS phenomenon and brings it right back to the modern-day. Turbo Boy also follows in this vein, while V/H/S brought a more gritty view of the found footage genre. Wolf Cop may not have had the same color scheme as many of the films from the ’80s, but it had that sense of wackiness, fun and violence that I would expect to see from VHS of that time.
