WandaVision: First Trailer Reveals Scarlet Witch and Vision To Be Living In A Trippy TV Sitcom World

Disney+ has released the first trailer for WandaVision. We were expecting The Falcon and the Winter Soldier as the first live-action MCU series to hit Disney’s streaming service, but the pandemic shuffled that up a bit, and instead, we’re getting this trippy take on Elizabeth Olsen‘s Wanda, aka Scarlet Witch, and Paul Bettany‘s Vision.

WandaVision marks the first series from Marvel Studios streaming exclusively on Disney+. The series is a blend of classic television and the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which Wanda Maximoff and Vision—two super-powered beings living idealized suburban lives—begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems.

Check out the new trailer below, which debuted at the 72nd Primetime Emmys:

In addition to Olsen and Bettany, WandaVision will also star Mad Men and If Beale Street Could Talk actress Teyonah Parris as an adult version of Monica Rambeau, a character who was introduced as a child in Captain Marvel. Kat Dennings and Randall Park will also reprise their MCU roles as Darcy Lewis and FBI agent Jimmy Woo, respectively, in the Disney Plus series. Jac Schaeffer, who was a screenwriter on Captain Marvel, will write, produce and act as a showrunner on the series.

As for the trailer itself, what do we get here? Well, it’s hard to tell. This is looking like one of the more trippy scenarios in the MCU. Kathryn Hahn makes a brief appearance, and she acknowledges the fact that Vision is dead. Are we going to get a mix of existential riffing along with some meta pop-culture references (note how the series takes on many classic TV shows of the past like I Love Lucy, The Dick Van Dyke Show, Bewitched, The Brady Bunch and so many others)? We also get some more fun shots like Paul Bettany dressed up in a cheap Halloween costume version of Vision from Marvel Comics. Also, keep your eyes peeled because if you blink you might miss Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau.

We should expect WandaVision sometime before the end of 2020.

Elizabeth Olsen: The Scarlet Witch Has Been Found, So Says Nick Fury

It looks like Marvel and Disney has found their Scarlet Witch, and her name is Elizabeth Olsen.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the cat was let out of the bag in an interview with Marvel film mascot Samuel L. Jackson. In their interview, they asked him about Avengers: Age of Ultron and he dropped some pretty juicy details about the movie.
”I don’t think we begin shooting before March of next year. I know we’re shooting in London, that James Spader is Ultron and going to be the bad guy, and that we added Ms. [Elizabeth] Olsen [who will play the Scarlet Witch], but I don’t know what she’s doing, if she’s on the inside or the outside. I haven’t seen a script.”
Now, it’s very important to note that he did say that Ms. Olsen is in the movie, not specifically saying Elizabeth, but let’s be honest here. We all know what role she was rumored for and it’s obvious Joss and company didn’t hire one of the Olsen twins to portray a role that has been burning up the casting rumor mill. While she has been coy about it, this is pretty much confirmed from the Head of S.H.I.E.L.D. himself.

Of course, we also got a bit more detail about the new Avengers sequel; We are about six months away from principal photography and it will film in London. Now, whether the Scarlet Witch is a good gal or baddie, that has yet to be determined, but Elizabeth Olsen has done some great work. If you haven’t seen Martha Marcy May Marlene yet, it’s definitely something to check out because she owns the screen. She’ll also be in the Oldboy remake by Spike Lee and the Godzilla movie due out next summer. So it looks like we’ll definitely get to see her kick some ass and make a name for herself when Avengers: Age of Ultron kicks off the summer movie season of 2015.

Avengers Assemble – Episodes 204, 205 & Ask an Avenger

Welcome back to our look at Avengers Assemble: The Series. We have had some hilarious moments in our time together. Whether its laughing at an out of time Captain America who just can’t seem to shed the political correctness of a different time, or a Hawkeye that has dipped his quiver in the majority of the female team and possibly Wonder Man. Muh huh. Muh huh. Muh huh.
