The 355 Trailer: Chastain, Nyong’O, Cruz, And More Star In A Femme Fatale Action Extravaganza

Universal released the first official trailer for The 355, an espionage thriller starring a set of international women as five spies who must work together to recover a top-secret weapon in order to save the world from danger.

With Jessica Chastain, Diane Kruger, Lupita Nyong’o, Penélope Cruz, and Fan Bingbing starring as the five leading ladies, The 355 poses as a dream team of formidable female stars coming together in an original globe-trotting espionage adventure. With this much femme fatale action, who could resist this kind of escapism?

When a top-secret weapon falls into mercenary hands, wild card CIA agent Mason “Mace” Brown (Jessica Chastain) will need to join forces with rival badass German agent Marie (Diane Kruger), former MI6 ally, and cutting-edge computer specialist Khadijah (Lupita Nyong’o), and skilled Colombian psychologist Graciela (Penélope Cruz) on a lethal, breakneck mission to retrieve it, while also staying one step ahead of a mysterious woman, Lin Mi Sheng (Fan Bingbing), who’s tracking their every move. As the action rockets around the globe from the cafes of Paris to the markets of Morocco to the wealth & glamour of Shanghai, the quartet of women will forge a tenuous loyalty that could protect the world—or get them killed.

Possibility of R-rated X-Force Movie

While it was obvious to both fans, and Ryan Reynolds himself that Deadpool needed to be R-rated. It was a risk that paid off for the studio. Making an R-rated superhero movie is difficult because it eliminates a large portion of the expected audience. Of course, there will be that annoying mom who takes her 8-year-old to see  Deadpool and then complain online about how it was too sexual or violent or whatever, but that’s a rant for later.

Aside from the annoying mother, Deadpool was a huge success in its opening weekend, which is great and paves the way for more rated R superhero movies. Of course the R-rating should be used delicately. Not all superhero movies need to be rated R, but now that we’ve had one, it’s definitely worth considering. Simon Kinberg, the producer of Deadpool explains that pretty well when he spoke with Collider;

It’s Clobberin’ Time: FOX Reveals New Fantastic Four Teaser!

Of all the super hero films announced for 2015, Fantastic Four has been the most elusive of them all. Without showing footage at any of last year’s cons and keeping “leaking” under control, all fanboys received was a brief synopsis of the film (one that certainly made us scratch our heads.)

X-Men Television Series Now Under Development by Fox

Fox has actually done an awesome job getting the X-Men movie franchise back on track. The respectability garnered from fans thanks to the first two films may have been tainted by The Last Stand, but First Class and Days of Future Past have done a great job of restoring Marvel’s mutant back to their prominent state.

X Men 2

It now looks like Fox is ready to bring the X-Men to the small screen. The Hollywood Reporter first got wind of this news, as they reported that preliminary discussions have already begun regarding the show’s development. This live-action TV series seemingly has some credible names already looking to bring this show to life – 24 producers Evan Katz and Manny Coto are said to be in talks, along with the current Star Trek 3 writing duo of J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay. Katz and Coto are said to be the main frontrunners for the show’s development, but Payne and McKay will receive creation credits for their work with the show.

X Men Origins Wolverine

Marvel’s suite of superheroes are currently dominating movie theaters and TV, thanks to shows such as Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Agent Carter and the upcoming Netflix show Daredevil. Simon Kinberg previously offered up some comments on the odds of an X-Men TV show coming to fruition:

We’re still in this place of figuring out what the future of the franchise will be, but when you look at S.H.I.E.L.D. to some extent and what Marvel is doing now with Daredevil and other shows on Netflix, it makes sense to tell some of these stories in TV partly because there’s just not enough screens to do all these characters, and also because the serialized format of comic books is better suited for TV. Because that’s it, every week you come back to the same characters different story, and in comic books every week it’s the same characters, different story. I think what [Fox is] seeing now is with the proliferation of new kinds of visual and special effects, there’s a way to make these stories that doesn’t cost $300 million every time you have to make a huge movie.

X Men The Last Stand

We’re interested in seeing the X-Men hit the small screen again. If it’s half as good as the previous animated interpretations of Professor X and his world saving crew, then we have high hopes for this show. We’re slightly worried about the negotiations that will undoubtedly go down between Fox, ABC and Marvel. But we think cooler heads will prevail and this live-action X-Men show will soon become a reality.

Exclusive Simon Kinberg Interview: Rogue, Apocalypse & The Future of X-Men

With X-Men: Days of Future Past coming out on DVD/Blu-ray on Tuesday, October 14, 2014, we get to view what is arguably the best of the X-movies right in the comfort of our own homes. Of course, there will be a lot of special features on the discs and we know that there will be some deleted scenes and features we’ll be dying to see, like the previous incarnation of the kitchen sequence. We know that X-Men: Apocalypse will be coming along in a few years with a gaggle of other X-Movies to accompany the franchise. One of the people shepherding these movies to a new phase is screenwriter and producer Simon Kinberg. Not only did he write and co-produce X-Men: Days of Future Past, he is also produced and wrote the new Fantastic Four reboot for 20th Century Fox, and helped create the Star Wars: Rebels series, so he definitely has a lot on his plate. We managed to catch a few minutes with Simon and found some great insights into this X-Trilogy, the deleted scenes for Days of Future Past, as well as the future of the franchise and what he’d like to see.
