TNT to Resurrect Tales From The Crypt with M. Night Shyamalan

Hello kiddies!

We’ve been hearing for years that the Cryptkeeper would be returning, and for years we’ve been met with disappointment. Back in 2011 rumors surfaced that a new version of the show was being shopped around, and they would be ditching the anthology format. That wasn’t really what we wanted, but if it meant the return of Tales From The Crypt, we’d of taken it. Alas, that fell through.

Now it would seem the show is on track to finally return, this time keeping the anthology concept as part of a new two-hour horror block on TNT. The part that seems to have people worried however, is the name attached to the project – M. Night Shyamalan.

10 Bizarre Foreign Posters for American Movies…

Film posters are amazing. Not only do they help advertise to people quickly and easily the content of any film, they also are truly stunning pieces of art in themselves looking great displayed on our walls. However, this is not always the case. Some posters confuse us, so a bad film is made out to be good, while some don’t really tell us anything about the movie and others lose the plot entirely showing us random images or awful art and leave us thinking about what mental state the artist could have been when they devised this monster of a poster. For some reason some of the best examples of these types of poster come from abroad in non-English speaking countries and this is what I want to focus on here, those posters that with out the internet’s help would be lost in a trash can for all time. This week we focus on the Horror genre.

VHS Vault Christmas Special! Deck the Halls with Covers of Terror

For some Christmas is a time to be jolly, for others a time for religious celebration and for others it means nothing at all. But for a very small few, it means a heck of a lot of cheesy horror movies. I am one of those few and proud of it. Christmas horror films seem to have come about with the 1974 horror classic Black Christmas and has been a staple of the movie genre ever since. I want to share some VHS delights with you, maybe you can put some of these into your stockings. Be warned some of these films are so silly they will make your nose go red like Rudolph. Here are my favorite VHS Christmas horror covers.

Countdown to Halloween #18: The Cryptkeeper

From comic books to television to movies – The Cryptkeeper has been a constant in the genre for over 60 years. Originating in EC’s Crime Patrol #15 in 1949, the Cryptkeeper would become the most famous of EC Comic’s ghoulish trio of hosts (with The Vault-Keeper and The Old Witch) as he would go on to star in their Tales from the Crypt comics for the next few years following his debut. That was until 1954 upon the release of The Seduction of the InnocentA true study in 1950s paranoia, the book chronicles psychiatrist Fredric Wertham’s assertion that near all delinquent behavior in America could be traced back to the evil that was comic books. The stir caused by this book resulted in the industry’s self-imposed ‘Comics Code Authority‘ which essentially de-toothed comics, turning Batman from a creature of the night into a glorified boy scout, and all but killing EC Comics and their horror themed books.

Tales From the Crypt to Return?

Update – 1/7/16

After watching Femme Fatales on Cinemax, I’ve been thinking a lot about Tales from the Crypt, and how awesome it was. Femme Fatales is just like Tales from the Crypt, except it’s not so much horror stories, and there are tons of hot chicks. Like the ‘beyond hot’ hostess Lilith (Tanit Phoenix), who provides the opening and closing monologue, as did the crypt keeper. It’s a great format.
