The World’s End: First Trailer for the New Flick From the “Shaun of the Dead” Team

First they had a show in the UK called Spaced, which was a bit hit or miss, but worth a watch. Then, in 2004 the creative team of Nira Park, Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost made a movie; Shaun of the Dead. It was a huge cult hit and created for them a loyal fan following here in the states. Three years later they returned to make Hot Fuzz. This was maybe even better than Shaun of the Dead, though met with less fanfare. Shortly after that Wright, Frost, and Pegg made a short without producer Park which was included in the Robert Rodriguez/Quentin Tarantino double feature Grindhouse. In 2011, Pegg and Frost reunited with Park to do the movie Paul, but Edgar Wright this time was not involved. So now, the four of them are all back together again for what looks to be another gem; The World’s End (not to be confused with This is the End).

The World's End

The idea is that 5 friends are going home to recreate an epic bar crawl they tried (and failed) to do years earlier. Pegg and Frost are joined by features Martin Freeman (Sherlock, The Hobbit), Paddy Considine (Hot Fuzz, Blitz), and Eddie Marsan (Sherlock Holmes, V for Vendetta) as the rest of their group. The group has more to deal with though than just completing the bar crawl as they soon find out something is town is not right…

ALIENS!!! Oh boy, this is gonna be fun. In addition to the names above, you have to have a pretty girl in there as well, enter Rosamund Pike (Die Another Day, Jack Reacher). Her character currently has no name on the IMDb listing, so that’s pretty mysterious/suspicious. BUT WAIT! There is more! For all the Game of Thrones junkies out there, we’ve got someone you might recognize. I didn’t spot him in the trailer, but David Bradley (Hot Fuzz, Harry Potter) is confirmed for the role of ‘Basil’, but I’ll just continue to call him Walder Frey…

The World's End

The movie is set to hit theaters in the UK on July 19th, and the US August 23rd.
