Legal Battle for Friday the 13th Film Rights Comes to an End

After years of legal dispute, Victor Miller, screenwriter on the original Friday the 13th film, has been awarded rights of authorship for his characters and story by the United States Court of Appeals For the Second Circuit. On the other side of the dispute, “HORROR INC., A MASSACHUSETTS CORPORATION, MANNY COMPANY, A CONNECTICUT LIMITED PARTNERSHIP” – aka Sean S. Cunningham, who both produced and directed the original film.

The Card Counter Trailer: Oscar Isaac Gambles Big In Paul Schrader’s Latest

Ahead of its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival, Focus Features has unveiled the first official trailer for Paul Schrader’s new film The Card Counter starring Oscar Isaac, Tiffany Haddish, Tye Sheridan, and Willem Dafoe.

The film follows William Tell (Isaac), a gambler and former serviceman who sets out to reform a young man seeking revenge on a mutual enemy. Tell just wants to play cards. His spartan existence on the casino trail is shattered when he is approached by Cirk (Sheridan), a vulnerable & angry young man seeking help to execute his plan for revenge on a colonel. Tell sees a chance at redemption through his relationship with Cirk. Gaining backing from mysterious gambling financier La Linda, Tell takes Cirk with him on the road, going from casino to casino until the unlikely trio set their sights on winning the World Series of poker in Las Vegas. But keeping Cirk on the straight-and-narrow proves impossible, dragging Tell back into the darkness of his past.

Dune: New Trailer Showcases All-Star Cast In Denis Villeneuve’s Adaptation

Warner Bros has dropped the second official trailer for Denis Villeneuve’s epic adaption of Dune, based on the classic sci-fi novel by Frank Herbert. This is the first time we’re seeing any new footage of the anticipated film since the first trailer debuted one year ago.

In the far future of humanity, Duke Leto Atreides accepts stewardship of dangerous desert planet Arrakis, also known as “Dune”, the only source of the most valuable substance in the universe, “the spice”, a drug which extends human life, provides superhuman levels of thought, and makes foldspace travel possible. Though Leto knows the opportunity is an intricate trap set by his enemies, he takes his Bene Gesserit concubine Lady Jessica, young son and heir Paul, and most trusted advisers to Arrakis.

Fear Street Part 2: 1978 Trailer Brings The Friday The 13th Vibes This Summer!

Netflix has unveiled the trailer for their highly anticipated second chapter in their Fear Street horror trilogy, adapted from the R.L. Stine books of the same name.

Fear Street Part 1: 1994 told of a group of teens in the cursed town of Shadyside who took on a malevolent force that has plagued their home for decades. Part 2: 1978 now goes back in time to an earlier decade where the joys of summer camp turn into nightmares when a murderer stalks the grounds. The second film, though set in the late ’70s, actaully harkens back to the days of 1980s slasher films set at camps such as Friday the 13th and Sleepaway Camp, and judging by this trailer, those vibes are there in spades.
